the warm-up to the tour to France and the three tenners were on the stage t Pogacha racing on European roads in stage racing for the first time this season he was alongside Yonas Vingor the first time they’d faced off since last year’s tour with Remco Nepal there as well the three together in a stage race for just the second time ever macho Fool on the start line of the Dofine riding his final ever stage race as pro and this is how it would begin dome to Mon just under 196 kilometers a date that should be for the sprinters certainly that’s how it went in terms of the race planning a few obstacles and traps set by the organizers towards the end but would the sprinters teams get over them could they set a big bunch finish up this was going to be no ordinary start to no ordinary race 2 and a half thousand meters of climbing on day one and a relatively easy breakaway away just two riders there paul Orsula of Kofides who had slipped into the relegation zone in the last few weeks and Ara all but down represented by Pierre Terry the 22-year-old neopro had a maximum of four minutes a gap of just over a minute with 70ks to go and as long as he finished today’s race would be in the polka dot jersey as the king of the mountains then at the intermediate sprint there were bonus seconds on offer the first two three and two seconds respectively taken by the breakaway one single second up for grabs behind mateo Jorgensson was going for them however Neils Polllet helped out his teammate Pogatcha in the breakaway osuna was done ti continued 55 km remained at this point and the Pelatin had everything very much in control leadrek and IP had ridden all day to try and set up a sprint for Milan and Akaman respectively and that was well in hand with just out there 51 seconds inside the final 50ks the gap even grew to a minute but then there would be a big fight for position coming into what was going to be the final climb on the final of two laps ben Healey led out Archie Ryan and then there was a big moment Pogacha followed yunas Vingor went with him and there was action already with more than a lap to go fred Wright was in [Applause] attendance and he’d be the rider who would try to go across to the break a former British champion still looking for his first international win wright was looking for more collaboration with Jere the Frenchman wasn’t forthcoming with that they nevertheless grew the gap that is until right decided to ride off cherry unable to give anymore 18 seconds of a gap with 23 km to go it was still looking good for the sprint teams it was looking less good for some riders who’d done both jido and dolphin out the back tired little trek were bringing things back and by the time they got to the final climb of the day there were more moves and trek couldn’t control it there were big moves first Axel Lance of Inos Grenaders right was caught julip tried to follow Von Hills as well amacha Faul was being tracked by Ted Pogacha but then this happened yonis Vingor normally quite conservative certainly on this kind of parkour was very aggressive he attacked pugacha followed fonapool able to come across Dembraago and the fifth element here was Remco just under 5 km remained and they got into the final kilometer no more than a handful of seconds fonol led out the sprint he was on the way surely to a yellow jersey at a first ever stage win on his Din debut but then Pogacha managed to come around and the world champion on a day that was destined for the sprinters finishing first with his big GC rival Yonas Vingor also there in the sprint finishing second a dream one two for the organizers the world champion winning the sprinters left perplexed and Bulga finishing the day in the yellow jersey a pat on the back from Fonopaul who’s coming back from his own injury he showed well these two enjoyed themselves certainly one of the days they’ll remember when they get together after retirement to talk about their adventures the day they foiled the sprinters and beat them at their own game today Paul Gacha winning second place going to Vingor third for Father Paul with a Neapol taking fourth [Music] quite the lineup at the end of the day where we were expecting the fast men to fight it out molus belonging to Tale Pugacha his first ever Duff stage win and his first appearance in 5 years and that meant that the first yellow jersey would go to the world champion Pogacha vingigore his big rival 7 days before the end of the race just at 4 seconds we expect the GC podium to be fought out over the final weekend but this was a very good start to what is set to be an exciting summer a 200 plus kilometer stage going to Eizoir is next up another opportunity for the sprinters but again with everybody in this mood good form aggression who knows [Music] stage two taking the riders south and after a finishing lap finishing 205 km in in Iswir [Music] you can watch it live on TNT Sports [Music]

  2. Brilliant to see friendly competition. the guys are obviously loving racing each other with no animosity – long may it continue

  3. Vinegar wheel sucking the last few K's, and desparate to get Pogs wheel. Only way he got 2nd was wheel sucking Pog. Remco with some huge turns! Pog looks slightly underdone at this stage, a really good thing, Vinegar looks at his peak now.
