Carnage in Abantos as the trail gets rowdy | Mountain Biking in Spain.

San Lorenzo del Escorial is a spectacularly beautiful village that is shadowed by Mount Abantos. Back in the 90’s Abantos was host to one of the World Cup Downhill races and while you wouldn’t know to look at it today, it’s still full of awesome descents and terrible climbs. It’s also 15 minutes from my house 😉

Bank of anthos sounds like something I’ve got a wargame which is in San Lorenzo that is cordial which is again just outside Madrid and it’s pretty well known for its beautiful stunning Paris royal palace but also and more importantly to us today it’s home to my closest local trails at least by cars 20 minutes away and it was actually it actually hosted one of the World Cup downhill runs in the 90s to give you an idea which is everything bears any resemblance to the World Cups with today’s but there’s quite a few trails up here it’s again very steep and I’m just pointing for Jorge to turn up I believe is a couple of minutes away and yeah we’ll get started okay he’s just arrived and it’s a sad day for Jorge beep your eyes he’s saying goodbye to his LaPierre over Walt 29:29 today yes – give it back – laughs yeah as well as being one of the cofounders of truck I mean truck MTV which is a mountain bike and Giroux tours company in Spain he’s also a bike tester for box World magazine and this is one of the bikes he’s been testing this week which is why we’ve been out with the electric bikes so much yeah and it’s going back today so if you see him share this here that’s that’s why even in trail mode this fine was too much further down watching one of these bikes up in walk mode no the walk mode just seems to be very very weak well maybe I just very very weak anyway [Applause] yep first ascent of the day I’ve never been down this one I see and pork hasn’t been any or 50 years either so let’s see how it is this is pretty vertical again so mr. Wade si la pine cones pine cones whoa dust everywhere consisting man for a second [Music] [Music] another Boneshaker this is steep Oh concentration to the max what I’m back do is do not get returns that was cool [Music] I was very stiff I push the book Revere so you go if I go in to hand over the handlebars now and see little man yeah whoa so we’re a couple hundred meters actually from the top of of anthos button here this is the second person which are going to be taken called this big then you can see the mountain range that continues around Madrid and then this just down here this is this is San Lorenzo there’s Korea just down here and the maturities way of on the horizon but this is another spectacular place to be and again 360 degree views here which I’m sure you probably can’t appreciate and we’re in mid to end of June now and right on the rise and there’s still snow we’ve been the mountains in grayish you know we’re gonna have a bite to eat before we start going down again the first part is trailers always horrible really broken especially with new boy though see can’t wait to get to the full oh come on I’ve never seen it this bad just rocks [Applause] oh we’re going to live on sweets back so it looks like we might cut the route a little bit shorter after Jorge’s little tumble look at that yeah it wouldn’t be so bad but it was a wound that he just had just finished healing I just come off now in exactly the same place so he’s in quite a lot of pain and he’s hit his hip as well so I think we’re probably just gonna find one final descent on the way and then head back to the car so we can get this dressed it’s looking pretty nasty we’re gonna take B UFE see if they fit us to go down which is it seventeen switchbacks it’s gonna be easier on Jorge’s arm and leg so it’s a pretty flow the only thing is probably part of a ground so surprise surprise boom three times [Applause] [Music] oh yes whoa that’s it game over we just finished having a coffee now after the ride and I’ve left Jorge there he’s a bit sore after that all he had you know the road was cut short I say that while I was catching up we still ended up doing 25 kilometers about a thousand meters I think is about 3,000 feet did an awesome new percent which I’ve never seen before so that was good so yeah gonna head home now clean the bike off and get ready for the next good next adventure so I stopped a proxy man see you around
