I have some Shimano Deore XT BR-M737 cantilever brakes. The springs are sealed, I assume it is press fit. I was hoping to get in there and clean / re-grease given they are 30 years old and put everything back together. Any way to accomplish that without special tooling, or am I better off leaving it alone and accepting a little crustiness? Thanks.

I’d flush with brake parts cleaner and leave dry.
I’ve never lubricated canti springs.
Am I the odd one here?
i think that cap with the little bit of spring comes out. I’ve replaced a broken set of these same brakes and that cap fell out. Just be sure not to put too much tension on the plastic outer shell.
