I recently upgraded from 2x Shimano 105 to a 1x SRAM Apex D1 groupset so I could have a factory blessed “mullet” setup. So far so good, though I ride some pretty hilly terrain and when I’m fully loaded with gear, I’m wishing the factory supplied 40T chainring was a few teeth smaller.
I have looked at Wolftooth but they only offer a 38T smaller option and then a bunch of larger options up to 52T.
Can’t anyone recommend a 32-36T solution?

Would this fit? (I’m not familiar with the various SRAM flavours): [DM MTB Chainring for SRAM 8-bolt | Garbaruk online store](https://www.garbaruk.com/shop/dm-mtb-chainring-for-sram-8-bolt-835#attribute_values=101,72,99,30)
Ratio technology 8 bolt direct mount goes to 34t https://ratiotechnology.com/product/ratio-dm-ring-12-13-speed/?v=7885444af42e
I know someone using it with the 11-50 sram eagle cassette on a Sonder Camino
I don’t really understand offsets/chainline though, so DYOR for your bike
No offense, but 2x 105 -> 1x Apex seems like a downgrade to me. Is it just to lose the FD?
