I currently own a 2022 Trek Emonda ALR5 and it is a blast to ride considering I only changed tires to GP5000 700x25c and 11-32 ultegra casseette.

This is within my budget as I also have a $250 gift card at MEC. Is this a good bike in your opinion? I don't mind trying Microsoft Advent and don't really want to spend so much for another bike. I will use it mostly on paved roads and commuting to work. I am wanting to explore gravel roads, but yet to find gravel roads that cars don't use. I am not open to upgrading anything and plan to use the bike and its components until it's time to change them. Any reviews on this bike from anyone who have it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone and happy riding. Take care!

  1. You may not be a fan of the mechanical disc brakes, especially if you’re going to do off road. I used nearly all kinds of disc brakes, only a few mechanical are worth it. If you’re just getting into it, be aware that you can’t really upgrade this without getting an ENTIRE new drivetrain, could keep the cranks and chain ring, but yeah.

I would look for hydro disc brakes and even the GRX 10 speed is better. Also look into if those wheels are tubeless or not, makes a huge difference.

  2. I think the G7 has apex axs and is still great value. I would go for that one
