I’m installing new brake hoses on my road bike (I’ve done this before on my other bikes).
The barb and olive are installed correctly, everything is greased with the proper grease, etc.
I’m having an issue screwing in the bolt. It’s supposed to be torqued to 8nm, but I’m getting more than 8nm of resistance with it still partially sticking out (see pic). I believe am using the correct (shortest) bolt, so it’s not bottomed out. It’s not cross-threaded.
Since the brake body is aluminum I didn’t want to overdo it before checking here.
Could there be something wrong or does it just need to be wrenched in harder?

That’s normal. At least I think it is. Mine don’t sit flush. They’re screwed in almost that same exact amount with some threads showing.
I’m not a pro, but I’ve been doing SRAM brakes for years. The bolt will not bottom out. I probably should use a torque wrench on them, but I’ve done it enough times over the years that I can feel when the olive crushes and it’s sealed. You’ll feel a slow and smooth threading until that point. Once it’s crushed, it almost feels like it skips a little bit when you try to tighten more. That’s when I stop.
