Hats off to Simon. And, what wonderful sport men he an Wout are. Total humility and modesty in victory and defeat. An example for sportsmen like van Stappen in F1. It's not all about winning but about how one behaves in competition, win or lose. Much like Del Toro and Carapaz. Honourable in defeat.
For those who don’t understand, riding behind Wout through the transition (gaining even more time and recovering from the massive effort that he put in on Fenestre), enabled him to finish it off on the final climb. Del Toro and Carapaz didn’t have that break through the valley; they had to do all the work themselves…and then arrived exhausted to climb Sestriere. This is a classic team move and it was executed to perfection.

7 years ago Simon lost the pink Jersey to number 181(Froome). Now that number helped him secure 2025 version of the Giro.

I had to check because I couldn’t believe that he lost 40 mins in 2018. But it’s true (38 mins to be precise).
Not ones did he thank Wout in the interview after the race, strange very strange, without Wout they rail him back in and he doesn't win the Giro.
