Bonjour!

Today I am happy to share with you one of the most beautiful cycling trails in our area. The “voie des vignes” cycling trail is a 72km cycling path from Dijon to Santenay and we are cycling a part of the trail today. I will be sharing the villages and some nice recommendations on where to stop for lunch along the way for those who plan to cycle this beautiful cycle path in Burgundy, France.
You can also follow this trail as a hike or driving. Let me know what you think in a comment!

[Music] Bonjour. In today’s video, I want to take you on a bike ride along the beautiful Voin. The Voya, which literally means the road of the vines, is a cycling itinerary between Djon and Sontene in Burgundy. and it crosses little wine makers villages and prestigious appalles areas along the way. It’s 72 kilometers in total and divided in three parts. Part one goes from Djon to Nuis Sanjour. Part two from Nis Sanjour to Boon. And the part that we are cycling today starts in Boon and ends in Sontene. And it’s just under 22 km with a difference in height of about 220 [Music] m. I personally love this cycle path as it is an alternative, slower way to appreciate the beauty of the vineyards. It is not a loop, so you need to cycle back to the starting point. So take that into account when you plan maybe to do this cycle path. It is slightly hilly in parts as the trail runs along the slopes of the vineyards, but it’s very doable even if you’re not a trained cyclist. We are using our new ebikes today, which have been kindly gifted to us by Hitway. We chose this model, the BK15 ebike, as it’s designed for all terrains and has mountain tires with increased grip. And the front fork suspension absorbs shocks and vibrations, so the ride is smoother. It has three levels of pedal assistance, which allow you to choose your speed and make cycling uphill a lot easier. If you’re interested in this ebike, you can follow the link in my description and get €30 off by using my personal discount code. Now, before we start cycling, there is three important things. One is this is not exclusively for cyclists. You’re sharing the road with hikers, cars, and the wine makers and their machinery. Second, please respect the work of the wine maker. do not go into the vineyards and don’t pick any of the grapes. And third, although helmets are not mandatory for adults in France, I think it would have been much safer for us if we would have worn them. So, I highly recommend that you do. Now, let’s get on our bikes and discover the voin. [Music] Hello. [Music] [Music] We got on the trail just outside of Bone right Before we enter the beautiful wine village of Pumar, known for its exquisite red wines, and I personally really love the Chateau de Pumar and their beautiful garden. I love to come here just on a average weekday, take a little stroll and enjoy the peacefulness. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] It is time to continue the path. We’re cycling through the village Fornet as we are on our way to the beautiful village Mu. [Music] In the lovely little center of Muro, you will find plenty of restaurants and bars to have lunch or just have something simple to eat or a bonerie, get some bread. But there is also one restaurant that I’d love to recommend here. I haven’t filmed it, but it’s called Lipiz, and it is really something special. But you really want to have the time to sit down and enjoy your lunch or dinner here. So maybe write it down for another day and get a quick snack here because you still have a couple of kilometers to go. And as I said, it is not a loop. So you will need to cycle back to wherever you rented your bike or parked your car. [Music] We are deviating from the path at this point because just outside of Mero is a wonderful place that I would love to share with you. It is a popup restaurant at a winery and it is one of the best kept secrets of this region. We are going in for a quick appro before we continue the rest of our journey. The clude demulan was founded in 962 by the monks of the Clooney Abbey and then placed under the authority of the Sito Abbey for over six centuries. The monks chose the site for its unique position at the junction of a stream and the valleys leading down to the neighboring villages of Uxidures and Muro. The cludiman one lived off of multiple activities including a mill, a dove coat, a bread oven, a dairy, accommodations, and an orchard. Nowadays, it is a wine growing estate with 16 hectares of vines. And since 2008, the entire vineyard has been cultivated according to organic and biodnamic agricultural principles. You can do a wine tasting here, but you can also have lunch, dinner, and an apiro here because Chef Roma Esuier, who has a restaurant in Bone and a really nice shop in Bone as well, he and his team set up a wonderful popup restaurant during the spring and summer months. And I can only recommend this extraordinary place for the vibe, for the food, for the beautiful view. So we have to stop here. Well fed and a little rested, we are going to continue the path. Now we are going to cross the very prestigious Appalachion areas of Pinashe and Shassan Mash now that you’ve probably heard of before. [Music] [Music] Oh, hey. [Music] Oh, hey. [Music] In Chesan Murash, there is a really nice other lunch place that I want to recommend. Actually, it’s for lunch and dinner. This is called Laaban and it has that same popup holiday summer vibe. Really, really good quality local food. Be sure to make reservations because they’re pretty fully booked all the time. They also have the bakery that’s in the same village just opposite the caban where they have the most delicious bread. So, that could be a really good alternative if you buy some cheeses somewhere or some other nice snacks. Get a really good French baguette to go with it. There are plenty of little nice spots along the path for a picnic. [Music] We are doing the final kilometers to Senet and we are going to end up the hill here at the Mulan. From here you have the most beautiful view. I really really hope you loved this video as much as I have enjoyed making it. All the information about the places, the bikes, the trail is in the links in the description box. Thank you so much for watching and let me know if you plan to do this trail maybe by car, walking or cycling. Thanks so much for watching and I will be back next week.

  2. You both look so content side-by-side as partners on two wheels! How were you able to convince Olav to join you on this substantial bike ride? (If I'm not mistaken, you said that he does not enjoy it.) Perhaps it was the escargots that tempted him?
