I’m considering a new daily driver for my mostly-flat commute (6-7km). I’d like something a bit retro-stylish with 7 speed hub if possible. Sub-1000€ budget preferred. I’m not a fan of the 26” wheels of the tokyobike and the velotti only has 3 spds available. Any other suggestions available in EU with this kind of flavor?

for commuting i’d give a fixed-gear a go. far more robust and easy to maintain, and often lighter. Wabi makes three great fixed gears under €1000. You could also get a single speed freewheel, which are easier to ride since you do not have to constantly be pedalling. A good example of this is the fuji feather, which has both single speed freewheel and fixed gear options.

In terms of standard gear bikes, i’d recommend the tokyobikes cs26 or the pelago bristol.

IMHO 3 speeds are enough for a flat comute 😉

also the veloretti has fenders, which is always excellent to have when comuting

  3. the 3 speed looks internal. if this is a commuter that is ideal.

…And a mixte just looks so nice and classy on the street.

Veloretti is a single speed I think. With coaster brake.

Still fine for a flat commute. Just that there were some posts speculating that’s it’s a 3 speed IGH.
