Please help! Was getting the same squeaking with my old pads. Tried sanding both the rotors and pads, cleaning with alcohol and muc-off cleaner. No result. NOW BOUGHT NEW ROTORS AND PADS, degreased new rotors with muc-off, bed-in properly and got the same sound\vibration/no power =((

*It’s not the headset since it is the same situation on the rear.

    Which maguras?

Obvious things like caliper to rotor alignment…
can you see light on both sides?
Do you have a lagging piston? Search vids about to bleed system for this (easy to do).

When was the last time the system was properly bled?

Edit: there’s a way you can quick bleed the system too. If you have no power, you have air in the system

  2. I’ve seen this a time or two before.

Worth checking you are not running a 200mm adapter with a 203mm rotor.

Cant tell from video. Need to see close ups of calipers and rotor alignment in y, x, and z axes

  4. which pad model are you running? Also – I’d stick with your standard isopropyl alch for cleaning rotors – its cheaper and there isn’t other stuff in it.

If everything is brand new, pads might still need more bedding in. Take it for a ride down some steep stuff, heat things up and let the pads bed in completely. If you are running pads with more metal in the compound, they are going to be generally noisier, but should quiet down once they get up to a decent temp.

I have maguras and found that they are just a noisier pad compound compared to shimano/hayes. You can try a 3rd part pad like Galfer or MTX to see if that helps. Organic – quieter but less bite and high temp performance, wears down quicker than metal.

Well, you’re using them on the street. They braze on light braking. I had the same problem. One braking on a decent hill, and they are clean and silent.

  6. That sound is specific to the rotors/pads combination. Had the same problem on my MT7 with the magura HC storm discs. Exact same sound. Switched to galfer wave 2mm rotors and now they work like a charm.

Took me forever and drove me crazy to figure out where that gurgling sound and the weird vibrations in the lever came from.
