Shimano’s already hinting that this new wireless ecosystem will likely be coming to other groupset ranges sooner rather than later so I can only assume that means the long awaited 1x GRX Di2 will be fully wireless.
Bikepacking.com’s review said that this new wireless tech is backwards compatible with the semi-wireless Di2 so I assume that means Di2 drop bar shifters can be paired with the XTR derailleur to make a mullet for the impatient.
I assume this is going to be Shimano’s new electronic shifting ecosystem that will slowly spread to lower range offerings as well as their road groups. Now that they’re over the hump of designing around Sram’s patents they can finally compete on equal footing when it comes to offering fully wireless shifting.
Campag releasing the new Super Record Wireless means that competition in the groupset market might finally start heating up again after years of Sram slowly eating market share from both major competitors. Good news for the consumer.

I always felt shimano was late to the game.

Wireless remains stupid.
We could have had electronic shifting with no lag and batteries that lasted for a year of casual use and months of intense usage but now that isn’t an option because “this one goes to 11” went from a joke to a requirement.
“But you can’t carry a spare Di2 battery”
THERE’S NO NEED TO!
Edit: People are absolutely incapable of understanding that there’s no need to fix a problem that only exists with smaller wireless batteries.

I switched 7 months ago from my first GRX bike to my current TI gravel with SRAM AXS.
Before I got the bike I always would have preferred to stay with Shimano, but there was no useable electronic/wireless option to switch to.
Now I can say: no regrets: the bike and shifting is awesome a.f. Shimano has lost me as they are far too late.

Shimano is so behind lol.
SRAM is going to be on 21 speed cassettes and derraileurs that can shift with telepathy meanwhile shimano will be like “we are releasing our 13 speed frame mounted derraileurs! Were calling it DHU!”
