Just got my new Hungry frame bag and it’s been a fun change up from rocking my handlebar bag. This is my only bike do it “all” commuter / bikepacking rig. Another recent update is the honjo fenders I installed that still need some work, especially dimpling for the chain which is rubbing in my lowest gears.

Upcoming projects are overhauling and installing some “new” parts: vintage suntour friction shifters, suntour rear derailleur, and sachs 7 spd freewheel. Trying to decide how to clean them up since I’m sort of moving away from degreaser use but also don’t like the PFAS situation with GT 85. Thinking about dismantling and scrubbing with chain lube or some kind of oil. Another item is to continue my re-badging by ordering a new LOTUS decal for the seat tube. I have designed the decals in illustrator and they’re based on the originals but with my own twists. I found the frame spray painted and decided to have it powdercoated in this color shift bronze “Eastern Dragon” once I knew I loved it. Also planning to start stitching some patches onto this very fresh framie. Cheers!

Wonderful bike. Very classy and old school. Especially love the dropper post set up. Takes me back to 80s mountain biking.

Gotta get some more height on that Hite Rite! Beautiful bike (glad that saddle worked out for you)

I passed on one of these at a thrift store last year. It was like two or three sizes larger than I can ride, but I still kick myself because I’m sure one of my tall bike nerd friends would have loved it.

  4. Which rear derailleur? Some of them need a special wrench to open them up fully.

You heard of green-oil, the UK company? I’ve wanted to try their products for years. Here’s their degreaser. Completely plant based. Otherwise I’d just use a few drops of soap in a bucket of warm water and a rag and a brush…pretty simple.

Their chain degreaser is based on coconut oil.

I’ve never taken a look to see if their eco-cred is real or not, chemically, but from a glance it doesn’t seem like just greenwashing. Certainly seems better than PFAS at least.

Such a beautiful ride, wow! The color shift powdercoat is excellent looking, and your fenderline is dialed in 👌

Did you make the bag yourself? The fit looks perfect in the pictures. Much better place to carry weight on these old ATBs with super slack headtube angles. My 84 Miyata Terra-Runner handles like garbage with any sort of front load.

Do you know about the Disraeli Gears derailleur database? Dude’s got nearly everything on there with max cog and chain wrap specs too. Here’s the [Suntour V series page](https://www.disraeligears.co.uk/site/suntour_derailleurs_-_the_v_story.html). If you have a V GT it looks like you should be able to clear a 34 tooth cog.

  6. Radical build!! I’m so interested in that background though, looks like a fairytale!
