I went on my first ride last Saturday with my new Endurace CF7 Di2 that I received the day before. And after 25km, this happened…
I shifted the front gear, and the derailleur just jammed, smashed the chain and flew away. It destroyed the frame mounting point.
Good thing is, Canyon Customer service (Australia) was great and super helpful, and only 4 days after contacting them, I already have the confirmation that they've ordered a new frame and they'll do the swap in their service center.
They inspected my bike, and according to them, a faulty chain is responsible of the incident. Is it something that happens with carbon frames/Di2 transmissions ? My feeling was that the derailleur was responsible, jammed because of a wrong setting in the factory and the torque broke everything, but I guess I'm wrong… Any thoughts?
Hopefully I'll get the bike in 1.5 weeks, and I can't wait since the first 25k were amazing ! (this is my first high end bike, I come from a 2018 entry level bike)

Sucks. Glad you are getting a new bike. Not worth speculating too much at this point. Crazy rare for that to happen to new chain.
I’m with you, guessing the FD wasn’t calibrated in the factory.
My Occams razor interpretation is that its more likely an issue with the FD as its a lot more complicated in terms of setup and operation compared to the chain. I think the chain would have to be seriously out of spec for that to happen and that you would have noticed it after 25km, but ill defer to the experts. Glad to hear customer service is good though
Well. That’s a new one. Glad they’re taking care of you.
