Trying to figure out where the proper place to have my Apidura handlebar bag sit is. It’s packed with my tent and my sleeping bag right now, so it’s quite full, but it wedges between my drops with a little bit of squeezing. Is this the right place to have it? I can’t get my hands around the drops in as many positions, but it’s still comfortable enough. Should it be lower, or should I stuff it less tight (ie move the tent/bag somewhere else?)? And is it proper sitting right against the head tube like this (I have helicopter tape over all the head tube)? Cables are somewhat caught in between but I don’t see any other way.

  1. Hey! I’ve got the same handlebar. It’s just very wide so you get tempted to stuff it all the way but that only works for wider handlebars. My solution was simply to put less stuff inside and keep some space so first I can still use my handlebar and 2nd I have some emergency space if needed, when I go shopping a few snacks on longer trips.

Another tip I would give you is, that you should take care that there are no cables underneath the bag / between the bag and the bike as the turns on long trips actually worn on the cables.

  2. You need to pack less in the bag so it’s not so wide. This is one of the drawbacks of drop bars vs flat bars.

You should also buy or make some [bar bag foam spacers](https://www.google.com/search?q=bar+bag+foam+spacers&client=safari&sca_esv=3daf0913dc600547&rls=en&sxsrf=AE3TifM6GpqGAXFNLUTIpDnM2GXSCtqCRQ%3A1748471025442&ei=8Yw3aLziGtSkhbIPq5KR-Ag&ved=0ahUKEwj8nvySmseNAxVUUkEAHStJBI8Q4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=bar+bag+foam+spacers&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiFGJhciBiYWcgZm9hbSBzcGFjZXJzMgQQIxgnMgYQABgWGB4yBhAAGBYYHjILEAAYgAQYhgMYigUyCxAAGIAEGIYDGIoFMgsQABiABBiGAxiKBTIIEAAYgAQYogQyBRAAGO8FSJsZUABYnBhwAHgAkAEAmAFyoAHpDKoBBDE2LjS4AQPIAQD4AQGYAhSgAoIOwgIKECMYgAQYJxiKBcICCxAAGIAEGJECGIoFwgIKEAAYgAQYQxiKBcICCxAAGIAEGLEDGIMBwgIREC4YgAQYsQMY0QMYgwEYxwHCAggQABiABBixA8ICChAAGIAEGBQYhwLCAg0QABiABBixAxhDGIoFwgIQEC4YgAQYFBiHAhjHARivAcICCxAuGIAEGMcBGK8BwgIFEC4YgATCAgUQABiABJgDAJIHBDE0LjagB–iAbIHBDE0Lja4B4IOwgcGMi0xOC4yyAeCAQ&sclient=gws-wiz-serp).

If you get the extension linked above, you can either mount it low and use it as a standoff or you can mount it high, hang the bag off it, and use the remaining space on the bar to mount things like lights.
