Looks like you are absorbing all of the energy from the transition instead of letting it propel you into the air. You gotta stand up to the jump.

Looks to me like you’re just not really popping off the lip. You seem to be sucking it up a little more.

Think about when you jump on a trampoline, how your legs fully extended at the right time to really give you lift? Same idea. Try to really extend the legs and maybe get the front wheel up a little higher. Your bike will never go higher than your front wheel on a jump. Try not to pull with your arms much though. That front wheel comes up with the help of the lip and a little weight shift back.

You want to have your hips back over the rear axel and that will pull the front end up.

    Hope that wasn’t confusing!

The shred academy on youtube does some really good technique explanations. The guy is a bit of a kook, bit he knows his shit.

There are a few things missing in the technique.

You need to shift your weight back a bit more on the lip to accept the transition and help the front wheel gain some height, push against the lip with your legs until you leave it, and aim to go up not out.

I think The Shred Academy on youtube breaks down jumping really well.

Keep it up you’re definitely gonna get there!

  4. Nothing wrong with going to a class or a trainer. Helped my wife tremendously. The hands on and just the way they translate information is something you could benefit from. IMO 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤘🏼🔥

  5. Find a local coach and explain what you want to work on beforehand. Worth every penny if they are good at what they do. Never hurts to revisit fundamentals either which can also lead to a better approach to the jumps and gives you the abilities to save a jump gone wrong.

As mentioned already, you’re not popping off the lip of the jump. Loam Ranger has a very beginner friendly video on it!

Hi! I think you’re not generating pop.. what really helped me figure out jumping is when I figured out pop. When the ground goes from flat to curving up into a jump, push down into the bike. This compresses your suspension, then when you take off the jump, the suspension rebounds, creating pop. Hopefully that makes sense, but I’d suggest watching some videos on how pop works. For me it’s more about what I’m doing on the approach to the jump, than what I’m doing in the air.
