[Music] It was all set to be the day of days at the judalia. Problem for the riders was there was another day of days and another four to five big mountain stages in the final week. It was all set to get underway with almost 5,000 m of the 25,000 left to climb in one single day. The rain was falling. Rogich had turned up despite the crack the day before the rest say and riders would leave the Venetto heading up the hill and into Tentino. Four classified climbs, five big climbs in total. It was to be a mighty day. What they call in these parts a tap [Music] porn. The final double whammy. Stobara and its steep slopes and the length of the climb to San Valentino Brenonico. It was going to break someone’s heart. The race began with a usual frenetic last week fight for the breakaway. Satellite trying his turn to get up the road. Other riders trying to be in there to take the stage win. Just over 200 km to ride as well. This one had the distance and it had the makings of a really good group up the road with Watt Fernat joining Josh Tarling, Darren Rafetti and the rest. That’d be a nasty crash for Josh Tarling who would have to leave the race. He was taken at a hospital. Same with Allesio Martineeli falling into a ravine and evacuated to have his injuries looked after and checked as well. The gap was allowed to grow to 622. Clyde Carbonar. And guess who? Yes, that man again. Lorenzo Fortonato took the maximum points. He had two of his men in an experienced big breakaway in the end. Lots of riders joining in. Over 20 in fact. Wet roads were causing problems and wet roads were causing crashes I’m afraid as well. Issues for Richard Karapas and as he crashed Primo Roglitch going down in the same crash and having to abandon the race. One too many for the man who’d started down in 10th after having dropped and cracked the day before the rest day. One pre-race favorite already out. There was more drama set to come. Inos Grenaders were starting to ride as were EF Education Easy Post. Both Bernal and Karapaz wanted to make it difficult for everyone else. The gap was down to 532. UA Emirates were working hard as Jana Yusu had an issue and then got back on. But they were also letting the gap grow. 838 the breakaway had a real chance when they were on the penultimate climb. XDS Astana tried to sort things out. Bil Bao had been in the move as well and back in the pelatin EF continued to pile on the pressure. That pressure was soon starting to create problems and the biggest problem soon became evident. Juan Aayuso, the other big pre-race favorite, was losing ground and those internal politics, well, they would be decided finally on the road. Aayuso dropped and soon losing a lot of time. No question now Isak Del Toro de Malar Roa was the definitive leader of UAE team Emirates. Aayo was already losing more than 2 minutes as they were well close to the top of the penultimate climb. That climb yet again won by Lorenzo Fortunado from the breakaway. Another descent into the final climb would come and UA Emirates were all behind their main man, the leader. The group was smaller, but it would swell again towards the bottom of the descent. Some riders coming back from the break to help those satellite riders, others managing to get back on. But it would be Micah and Adam Yates mainly looking after the main man. And in the breakaway, Yianis Vois who’d stolen a march would be caught by Scaroni Fortunata as well. Fernat went to domestique mode. It was like watching the tour to France from a couple of years ago. But Yates didn’t attack yet. Julio Pelidi did now freed by the unfortunate departure of his teammate Rogich. Christine Scani attacked at the front. Adex has now looking to add a stage win to all of their other prizes from this doro so far. But working well. behind the group was getting smaller. GC favorites remained. Essi was joined by Fortunato. Sea ceased to be a problem. Simon Yates launched the GC hostilities. Starting the day in second, a minute and 20 down from the Malar Roa. Karapaz also went. Derek G reacted well. Bernnal was losing contact, others too. And then this a stinging attack. So aggressive, so much difference made. Richard Karapaz was really turning the judo on its head. He quickly put 30 seconds into Simon Yates and Isak Del Toro. Derek G setting off in chase and looking good too. Would it affect the stage win? Alfortunato and Scaroni were still working together. Kapaz almost a minute in front of the Mayar Roza with 4ks to go. But that Mayo Roza started to show signs of weakness. Infallible, unruffled, in no danger until now stage 16. Simon Yates attacking Del Toro cracking. He’d soon be reached by Bernal. Could he work at it and keep the Maya Roza? For a while it was looking difficult, but as one kilometer remained for the breakaway, the Toro continued to fight. A wonderful one, two for Extia Sastana. Scaroni taking the stage. Foronato second. A first ever Grand Tour stage win for Scaroni. An Italian win for the first time in 17 stages, ending the longest drought ever. Julio Pelari would finish third. That would be a first Italian 1, two, three since 2016 and the first on a mountain stage since the day Baso took the Malar Roa from Aoyo in 2010. Kabaz across the line. Could he take the Maya Roza? Then came Yates and we were counting back. Bernal Kuzo Store of finishing the Mayar Roza fighting for every pedal stroke. But what a fight it was. Down but not completely out and just about holding the race lead. Not a good day for UA Emirates. One leader lost, another losing time, but they remain in charge as XTS Astanau take a huge stage win and many more points as they move safely and further clear of [Music] relegation. So that Italian 123, but all the talk of everything that happened in the GC. Yes, Scaroni celebrating the Italians too. But the main headlines coming in the fight for pink. Four big stages to come, plus the procession in Rome. And the GC is closer than ever. 26 seconds of a lead. Yates in second. Katapaz not far away either. Keep your eye on Derek G chasing two. The GC is open. It’s still pink for now for young Isak del Toro who keeps it for an eighth day. But this is next. Another five-star stage and a climb up the mighty Mioro. [Music] Paso Delonale first through Ponte Deleno then the Mortiro up towards Borm and climbing up Leote on the way there. Another beast. More mountains, less distance this time, plenty of elevation and tired legs. Who’s next to break at the Gor? Anything can happen in this race. [Music]

  1. まだ若いデルトロにとってはかなり厳しいステージになったけど、俺は期待しているぞ👍

    落車の天才のログビッチがいなくなってスッキリした。あんな奴はレースに参加させる必要ない。

  2. bike racing is much more lively and interesting when it's not just one or two aliens eating up the entire course ahead of everyone else. i hope the tour can be half as fun as this years giro.

  3. Oh wow, without Primoz Roglic the Giro is not the same for me. Hope Simon Yates or Gee wins but just not the same interest.

  4. It’s good to see Carapaz back at his best, and I’d like to see Del Toro win it for the youth and for his country, but I do want to see Simon Yates get his redemption for cracking in the 2018 giro.

  5. Richard is world class, in the same crash a roglic, comes back and the sends an attack that melted the legs of Del Toro. What a rider, cheers to you Rich

  6. I don’t see why the crashes aren’t shown. If it’s because it highlights how dangerous it is, then the course wasn’t suitable for the conditions. If it’s to avoid people having to see it, they should be able to. If seeing it stops amateurs thinking they can fly down hills at 60/70mph, that’s a good thing.

  7. I've had many arguments with people over the past few years when I tell them that Roglic is notorious for crashing out or taking himself out of races because of crashes and today just solidifies my beliefs on that. He is his own worst enemy and is a poor bike handler. He finds himself in bad situations too often. You'd think he would do something to change that but it continues to happen. Look at today . . . ABANDONED cos he crashed twice this week amd this crash today was one too many so he left the race. It's been his MO sine he started racing
As for UAE I did not want or expect Ayuso to be their leader. I expected A Yates or maybe even McNulty to take the lead from Ayuso so I was only half way correct. Ayuso wasn't up for the task and I'm glad cos that lad is not a team player. He's greedy and selfish so I'm actually glad GC landed in Del Toro's lap but after I saw UAE get behind Del Toro I don't expect him to carry it to Rome unfortunately. If Del Toro can carry the leaders jersey to Rome I will be surprised
I think Carapaz is the real threat at this Giro. He "promised" Jonathan Vaughters and team EF that he would be at his absolute best for this Giro and he's looking incredible!!
    🤘🏻🇬🇧

  8. I'M JUST GLAD AYUSO HAS TO TUCK HIS TAIL BETWEEN HIS LEGS!!!! HE'S NOT THE "BIG DOG" HE THINKS HE IS!!! HES GREEDY AMD SELFISH AND HE NEEDS TO BE KNOCKED DOWN A PEG OR TWO AND HOPEFULLY THIS WAS IT!! Hea not a team player and he needs to learn from this but i doubt he will
    🤘🏻🇬🇧

  9. And once again people crashing in wet conditions. Enough is enough. This situation must end. Poor Roglic, he certainly won't be an ace at riding a bike, but I'd prefer to see him compete with the others rather than retiring all the time. The UCI must impose new safety standards on tires (at least). Mandate "rain" tires to be mounted before the race in case of a bad forecast. That way no one will crash to the ground anymore and we can enjoy a Roglic racing with the others from start to finish. This is not cycling. It's the sport of "let's see who is better at staying upright". How many Gino Maders do we need before things change?

  10. Atleast UAE can focus on supporting del toro now since ayuso is out. Although I think Visma can get the Rosa if WVA will continue to be like the domestique he did during the tdf
