Finally found something worth buying at a thrift! Daughters insist on dragging me sometimes kicking and screaming. Univega Alpina 5.5 with Deore LX. It looked like crap under a pile of garbage bikes but I am seeing the bones. Threw some new consumables on, worked on stuck shifters, and cleaned it up first pass. Debating how much money and effort to throw at it. Chain was way over 100% and wore the big chainring down. I want to stay vintage but 94 BCD kind of pricy and not common in parts bins. Sucks that a new chain and chainrings will cost many times what I paid for it, but hey that is Xbiking, right?

I’m also cleaning up an alpina and can’t wait to ride it haha. It was in really bad shape, no front brakes, no rear shifter, broken spokes… but I had to get it for the mounting points on the bottom of the down tube!
