Perfect for your use case. Bikes of this style don’t typically sell for much less than 1500. It’s a fair price, but not an absurd deal.
The Rove DL is a great gravel and all road oriented bikepacking rig. Kona Unit X is farther down the scale of mountain bike, while a sutra LTD is between the two. Tire size will be what holds you back from exploring rougher trails.
Make sure the bike is the right size before buying. I’m 6 foot and ride a 56 Sutra LTD, while my wife is 5’8″ and rides a 54 Sutra LTD.
