4 days in Iceland itinerary: here's how to plan a long weekend in Iceland, no car required!!
✈️ Fly from Hamilton, Ontario (YHM) to Keflavik, Iceland (KEF) with PLAY Airlines
🚍 Transfer to Reykjavik using Flybus (goes to main bus terminal, then can take a smaller city bus to the bus stop nearest to your hotel)
🛌 Stay at the Grandi by Center Hotels, great location and there's a spa included with your stay!
Day 1 (arrival day): Sky Lagoon (can book with transfer from Reykjavik). Explore Reykjavik a bit if you can fight through the jetlag!
Day 2: South Coast Tour with Arctic Adventures. See two waterfalls (Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss), the black sand beach and go for a glacier walk on Sólheimajökull. Includes transportation from Reykjavik.
Day 3: Golden Circle and Friðheimar Greenhouse Tour with Reykjavik Excursions . See Geysir, Gullfoss and Thingvellir National Park (includes transportation from Reykjavik).
Day 4: Experience Reykjavik on foot or by renting one of the scooters that are everywhere. See Hallgrimskirkja (church) and don't miss the view from the top. Harpa concert hall, Sun Voyager sculpture, amazing street art, the Rainbow Street and Laugavegur (main shopping street) are some of the best things to do in Reykjavik.
That's how you can see so many beautiful places in Iceland in an extended weekend from Reykjavik!
I just got back from spending 10 days there. Not having a car would be totally lame. My son and I rented a car and drove 2600 km circling around the island. Changing landscapes must be seen, waterfalls, caves, geysers, Sulphur Springs, inactive volcanoes to climb, hot pools, and just such a good vibe. it wasn't getting fully dark until almost 11 PM and there were kids in the neighborhood all playing together till around that time. It's definitely a trip I will not forget anytime soon.
