Picked this up somewhere around 10-15yrs ago just the way it sits now minus the bars which were lost somewhere along the way. The intention was to get some new wheels for it and start riding again but life happened and it sat in a storage unit until recently. Any point fixing this up still? I highly doubt these frames are worth much, I believe it was a basic 540 Air.

That’s a sick frame with everything in immaculate condition. The rust is nothing more than a bit of surface rust. Give it a scrub with the finest steel wool you can possibly find and put some chrome polish on there. Either sell it or hold onto it for a little longer. It’s not a ‘rare’ frame like you said, BUT it’s quite rare to find them in a condition this good.
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX was *THE* game back in the day.
With modern crank, modern (tall) handlebars and nice wheels it would be a super fun pumptrack bike.
Had a Haro 540 air back in the day too. I think back in 2001. Road that thing EVERYWHERE!! That thing was like 40 pounds! lol! I wish I still had it!! Super dope to see! Thanks for posting this.. But anyway.. clean that up and hang it on the wall. it’s a good conversation piece.
Or.. like someone said, there’s probably someone that would pay decent money for it.
No
1. Sell
2. Build up for a nice beater bike. Get some Kneesavers, Knockoff will do, who cares? AME Grips, Fat Seat, the Works.
Looks great, just wondering how the bars escaped
