Stage 12 of the Jedi Italia was supposed to be one for the sprinters. A 50point day in the Malia Chiclamino. Would the GC riders finally get some rest after a taxing few days? Wharton was hoping to be back on leadout mode. Could Olaf Koi finally win or would it be Paul Manir’s day? Ethan hater hoping to help him in the Malia Rosa and still leading the race now by 31 seconds was Isak Del Toro of UA Emirates. The race starting in Mina and finishing in Viadana just up the road. A couple of hills to take on in the first part of the stage. A potential for crosswinds too and narrow roads going through Parma. Intermediate sprint for bonus seconds in the Red Bull kilometer Arachello before a final lap of the finishing tower. Once the official start went, it was a little more active than we expected. Four or five teams wanted to get up the road originally. Fisma Lisa Bike and Alpacas Kernik soon tried to show them that they wouldn’t be allowed to do that. And once three riders got up the road, everybody blocked it to make sure they’d have something easier to control. Episro Bonantaroti would be the three riders up the road going past Ferrari in its headquarters. It was surely time for a fast finish. Alposine alongside Vizma and Datlong were the main controlling teams and they didn’t allow the gap to grow more than 3 minutes. In fact, for most of the day, it had tried to be controlled at 2 minutes. A few spots of rain appeared around 40 km into the stage. First categorized climb taken and then the rain started to come down a little more frequently. Tarot struggling on the descent, but he catches breakaway mates further on. Carl’s ve and Johnson’s doing most of the work behind. And it was a good old fight between Petro Bon and Epis at the first intermediate sprint. The former taking it and Mess Pearson coming to take the remaining points behind. The wet roads meant a few nerves on the descent, but some lovely shots too. Hair pins of plenty in the hills in Ailia Romana. Tarot taking the next climb. Only two classified on the day. Not too many points available. For Tonato still in control of that competition. Malia Chiclamino was briefly off the back as they headed into potential crosswind territory. But he, like those he’d been caught out with behind, worked out their way towards the front. And it would get very, very nervous with the road about to open up. Several teams wanted to bring their GC riders to the front. The gap to the breakaway suddenly coming down quicker. The second intermediate sprint was this time won by Epis getting the better of Petro Bon. Same scenario behind Peterson there to swallow up the remaining points. A bike change for Juana Yuso produced a few nerves just as things were heating up at the front and the road narrowed with several teams trying to make sure they were there in case. And you’ll saw returned. The breakaway was about to be returned to the pelatin. Three hours of racing, the average not frightening, but that was changing. Petro Bon just about surviving that little bit more as it almost came back together and the Red Bull kilometer approached. 64 and two bonus seconds were available. Petro Bon taking them. Kim Haiduk was there to take four for the Inos Grenaders. And guess who a game behind isak del Toro showing that he’s every bit the racer that he is. Two more bonus seconds and a GC lead from 31 to 33 seconds over his teammate. Once across the finish line in Vadana, the bell was ringing. A 26 km circuit that will be taken on at warp speed. Mayo and the GC contenders having to fight for position at the front. The sprinters wanting to do the same. The first big marker was that 3 km to go mark. Any crashes or incidents after this and that would mean the same time for everybody. After that it was time for the sprinters. Now they know they can breathe. Left turn coming up. W Fernat wins it for Olaf Koy and Koi is going to have a penalty kick to bring this one home if he can. Can Fernat deliver for another 100 meters or so? Here we go. It’s lead out time for Wenard Vizmissa bike have been growing into this race. They’re trying to get around. It’s an early launch sprint though from Casper Venudin. He’s going long to the line. Venudin is there. Groves behind him. Koi’s there too. Koi has to get around on the right hand side. It’s Mas Pearson. They all come to the line. Fall together. There’s the throw and finally Olaf Koi has it. All of that work done by Watt Fernard. And it was work done well with Olaf Koi embracing Watt Fernard. Fenat very much now in this race. Vince Melissa Bike having their second stage and Koi getting what he came for. It was so tight as well. Venudin’s long sprint grabbing him a second place. Koi of course taking first. Ben Turner impressive. Alas Pearson up there as well. A 40th career win for Olaf Ko is second in a grand tour. the top 10 on your screen. A nice moment on the podium for the Dutchman rumored to be leaving Vizma Lisa Black at the end of the year, but he’s picking up more wins for them right now. The Mario Lamino still comfortably led however by Pearson. He once again on the podium and affecting the race each and every day in the general classification. A good day again for Del Toro and UAE. Their leaders kept out of trouble. Del Toro adding two more bonus seconds. Another day in the Malar Roza. Day number four for the Mexican as he looks better and better in the race lead. Next stage takes us to Vichenza into the Venador. It’s the finishing circuit or something approaching it from the Gir Vento in the last few years. Monte Beric will be taken on a couple of short sharp clims. Interesting to see how this one ends at a finish in Vicensa. You can watch it as usual on TNT Sports.

I don't like how little is shown of the aftermath of the stage. Almost no mention of any jersy except the pink.
Would not be surprised if Wout himself wins tomorrow. That depends on whether they will leave a brekaway go and how strong it will be.
I wouldn't mind if Ayuso left UAE, he looks like he wants his own team as a rising star, and quite frankly he hasn't been a good domestique for Pogacar, esp last year TDF, Almaeida had to yell at him several times to pull
Toriiiiiiiito!!!!
The WvA love gets silly. He did a good leadout, that's all.
Vamos Del Toro..
wow, that was boring
Did they move all the mountains out of Italy?
YA DEJEN CORRER LIBRE A ISAAC DEL TORO.
The way he said 'Ferrari' might just be the most irritating thing that I've heard in my life.
The UCi loves to ban all kinds of banal bullshit in cycling… like the super-tuck… you know… anything cool or fun. I wish they would ban the blocking of the peloton at the front–as happened today… where some douchebags in the front decide they want to control the speed of the entire group. THAT should be COMPLETELY illegal… and ruthlessly enforced. It makes the stage / race BORING… and it's unsafe–as it creates a big dense thick pack of riders.
So motivating!!🎉
WVA a beast such a long lead out.
Del Toro: El Chapolin de la bicicleta🎉
I didn't realise that "blocking" riders from joining a breakaway was legal.
Is this the default title for a sprint stage I feel like I have seen the title great team win on the last sprint stage
Gosh, 😂 sprint line at 70km and then walked away laughing… 😮
Would have been nice to see the finale from a little further out. Just sayin!
Commentators really love saying Maglia Rosa and never say Maillot Jeune.
thank you.
Respect Wout
new modern bikes, are still pedaled the same. .
5:53 why do Kooij and Van Uden have a German flag next to their names? 🤔
Poor Dell Toro, looks like homeless child, without uae public support. Hoping he can be on the podium, at least 😅
Did Wout just did a 1000m leadout!? Nobody ever does that!
6:40 VIVA MEXICO…
Spoiler block
Wout recognized he was violating UCI's rule as he lifted his hand in celebration of Olav's victory.
I love Wout's happiness at the end ♥
LOT OF COMMENTARIES: some want del Toro to have a fair Chance to he pink jersey and some just like the idea of a Leader wining even if its not fair. Yes, Cycling is a team sport but it should also be a fair sport and not political
Worst Giro ever! 😂
Very good team work
Finally Wout took a support role. I hope he continues to realize this is his main role. He is not a sprinter or someone to win anymore.
