Picked up this awesome Miyata 712 for free with most of its original 105 parts. Just needed new tubes/tires and caliper cleaning/tuning to get working, but I want to install drop bars and maybe bar-end shifters (sorry downtube folks), a longer seat and stem spacers (it’s a size low but I am willing to compromise a bit to make it work for me). What do folks have to say about this bike/other Miyatas?

Not only have you got the downtube shifters, you’ve got the Biopace chainrings. I actually had my 712 set up with a Biopace triple and 10 speed cassette just to piss off the purists. But the rear downtube shifter suffered a rapid unplanned disassembly event in the middle of a ride so now it’s just a boring Ultegra 2X10 setup. It’s a great riding bike.
