I’m sorry did you really mean 7’1”?? Now way you’ll be able to comfortably ride a 20 inch

  2. Right so, yup you’re definitely tall! My current tallest customer rider was 6.8, 20” bmx wheel isn’t gonna work for you at all. It’s gotta be a 22” wheel or 24” wheel otherwise you’ll make any 20” wheel bike look like a 16” kids bike!

  3. I would try riding a 20 around first. They are better for park and tricks but you are extremely tall for a 20. I’m 6ft and rode a 20 with a long top tube so it wasn’t bad. At your height though you might prefer a bigger bike. You can still build a good 24. You really should go to a shop ride them around then decide. If you go 24 You might end up having to get upgraded wheels if you are getting a pre built.

Maybe go try to ride a 20″ and see how it feels before you jump the gun…I know you can get a 22″ top tube frames… They do make nice 24″ bmx…you’re a tall dude good luck buudddy.

  5. Just to be clear, you are over seven feet tall?

If that’s really the case, I would look into frame sizing before anything. Even a XXL race frame which is exceptionally long, will feel cramped for someone of your height.

If you are looking for a fun bike in the same realm, I would highly suggest looking into a dirt jumper that uses 26 inch wheels and a long/large frame size. Even one of the more niche 27.5 jump bikes might be better.

  6. If your 7’1 you’ll need a pretty large top tube 20 inch bmx (like 21.5+) so 24 maybe be a bit better with your height. But 1000% should go to a bike shop that has both and get a feel for them. That’s truly the best way

  7. You will probably need a custom frame my guy. Definitely bigger that 20″

  8. I knew a semi pro guy that was around the 7 foot mark maybe like 6’9″ 6’10” and he rode 20in only thing was every frame he had was a custom like 24in toptoube kinda thing.

You can ride a 20 it would be the same equivalent as us 6’2 riding 19 in tube top flatland frames

The question is not “how tall are you” but “how are you tall?” I’m 6’6″ and I ride a 21″ top tube 20″ bike. I’ve got a 36″ inseam so I’m more comfortable on a bike with what people consider “short” reach and a tall front end, I run a 5.5″ head tube with 11″ rise bars and it’s comfy as all get out. I’m technically “too tall” for 20″ so I started on 22″ and everywhere I rode I felt like I had the wrong bike, it just felt too big. I mostly ride park and the 20″ is just too good.

See if you can throw a leg over a 20″ and see how it feels to you.

  12. I’m 6’1” and ride a 22” (with a 22” TT) because 20 just felt too small – I couldn’t imagine being a foot taller and fitting on a 20”

  13. Durt-Wyzerdd on

I’m 5’8″ and ride a 24″ just for cruising. I feel like it’s too small, lol!

    Has to be troll .
Anything under a 24 isn’t gonna work whatsoever. And even then . It’s gonna be interesting if your atleastcstandard weight. Your gonna want high level wheels

A 20 would be impossible. I don’t recommend anything 20″ it will look like a tricycle

7’1”??? Dude, a 20” bike will feel way too small for you. At say a 22” *at least* is where you should start but even then that’s marketed towards people well over 6’.

  16. My boy is prob like just about 6 foot and he rides a 24 like it’s nothing. Rip the 24 inch it feels great👍

  17. Hate to say it but, but x long PBJ is probably your jam. If you want 20 , you will need a custom built frame like 23 inch top tube and over 10 inch bars

  18. Superman_Dam_Fool on

Hit up Rick Moliterno and Chris Moeller and see what they say. Rick builds custom frames under his brand Standard Bykes, and Moeller runs S&M Bikes. S&M makes 22” top tube frames. Both have been around in the BMX world forever.

Contact mike laird or standard byke company. They make custom frames

7 foot 1 inch damn I’m like 5’ 10 “ and I feel cramped on a 21.75 tt 20 inch so best thing for you would be to cancel the whole biking thing and pick up a basketball and start hoopin??

Really surprised nobody has mentioned an O.S. 20 (Over Size 20) bigger wheels and the frames are usually 22″ TT or 23TT. Im 6′ 4″ and ran a 22″ TT O.S. 20 with a bigger stem and 10″ bars for BMX racing. Slapped some Pedaling Innovation pedals on it cuz I’m a size 14 foot and rocked out.

Also ran a 22″ TT Cruiser in BMX racing also but used a 195mm crank arms with pedaling innovation pedals. The longer arms were so much more comfortable with my height and I didn’t feel like I was pedaling my butt off.

  22. Skindiddler on

You’ll be alot happier on a custom built.
Big frame, big stem, big cranks and big bars. Chonky wheels.
