In the 80s a lot of midrange bikes were made in Japan due to the favorable exchange rate, whereas high end bikes were made in the US or Europe. Doesn't mean they were bad. The 80s is when Japan first built up its reputation for affordable, reliable manufactured goods. In the late 80s/early 90s when the exchange rates shifted, most bike manufacturing moved to Taiwan.

SR (Sakae Ringyo) was primarily known as a crankset and stem manufacturer in these days, and they were used on a lot of bikes. You now might know them as SR SunTour, maker of suspension forks.

The bikes three main tubes are carbon, the rest aluminium. Gear are Shimano 105. 7 speeds so narrow space.

This SR Litage was most likely bought in Decathlon in France around 1990, maybe some of you know more than I do. Plz share.

  • I would like to varnish the bmcarbon tubes. Which varnish do I use?

    • There is a crack in one of the carbon tubes. I would like to patch that up. How do I do?
    • The gear shift for the derailleur has been moved due to a problem, I don't know, but now there is a screw going all the way through the carbon tube. Anything that is not too complicated to do about that?

I rode it yesterday, it was a good ride…
