Hi everyone, I'm a 14 years old teenager, my hight is 178 cm and I'm still growing
I'm looking for a new bike cuz I'm outgrowing my Gaint Trance 2 2023 with my aggressive riding, it's actually started creaking everywhere and that's not a maintenance issue
I'm thinking about getting a yt jeffsy but can't decide between the uncaged 13 and the core 2 cf, the core 2 will be around 300€ more expensive but that's not a big deal, the biggest difference is that the uncaged is a mullet
When riding I really like to kinda play and manual and all that good stuff but there are days when I pedal all day long, plus ass clearance is important for me I get to that rear wheel more often than I would like to and with a little more travel I'm afraid that this will be an issue but maybe it's just me and my riding style and I should change it? There are people shorter than me riding 170 enduro rigs without any problem
Now about the specs, I'll just mention the pros and cons of the parts so you have a better understanding of what I like
(first goes the uncaged then the core 2 cf)
Breaks: I'm SICK of the dominion's I have the a2's on my Trance/ the G2 ultimate should be all right but I'll still change them to my a2's
Drivetrain: the gx eagle is my dream budget drivetrain/ just shimano
Suspension: both good enough for me
Frame: I will prefer the carbon just because of the frame storage
Also I will like to have a lighter weight bike since I like to play but my budget isn't sky high (3000€ max) I can live with a heavier bike, another thing to mention is the colors both bikes are insanely beautiful but the uncaged even cooler
Thanks to everyone who read it all, every comment will help me, if I'm wrong please correct me

from these two, i would pick the not old school 29er, it also look much better for me.
Hmm. Your question isn’t terribly clear. You did well with the background details though.
Overall, I prefer mullet. It’s fun to throw around, easier to not snag on stupid steeps, stronger when I case, and it’s easier to spin up when pedaling. Top speed in a straight line, with no features, is lower, but that’s the only down side for me.
G2s really aren’t anything to write home about, I’m 90kg and there are times where I can’t get the front to lock up
Suspension is the same on both bikes, fox uses the same dampers with slightly different shim stacks in both marz and fox suspension
Gx is pretty bulletproof, I’d prefer it over slx just because I’ve seen a few shimano derailleurs give shit from the clutch and spring system corroding and binding up, imo currently sram smacks the shit out of shimano regarding shifting
I love mullets for playing around on the jumps and riding dh/enduro, I’ve put a 29” wheel on the back of my slash and it plows through rough stuff faster but you can ride as fast on a mullet if you choose your lines
Creaking is maintenance, it means bottom bracket, headset or pivots need cleaning/greasing because there is dirt in there and/or it’s dry rubbing. I love a Mullet personally, because I don’t like the feeling of the back wheel being omnipresent and getting in the way, but it’s so much about preference.
Most people lean towards mullet for descending and 29 for climbing these days, but both formats do well at everything, it’s not the most significant factor about the bike. As for G2 brakes, I wouldn’t put them anywhere near any of my bikes for aggressive riding, but if that’s what you have to work with and you’re only 14, I’m sure they will do the job until you can afford better.
Nice to meet you. My wife says I’m a 35yo teenager.
I purchased a mullet this spring that’s on a 2012 frame and a 26-in rear tire. It was a huge mistake! I don’t care for the way the thing feels while you’re pedaling it. If it were me, knowing what I know now, I’d get the 29er.
