New to cycling and getting all geared up – which is part of the fun (for me).

Went shade-shopping the other day and decided on a pair of Oakley Sutro S as they just felt right on my face. Very comfortable.

But now doubt is sneaking up on me… I maybe think they’re a bit too “snow-googles” looking so should I get them with black frame instead perhaps?

I also tried on a pair of Oakley Encoder which also felt very comfortable, albeit they’re a tad more expensive too… They’re a different look too.

I am super torn; I would also like a pair of sunnies I could maybe use without the bike helmet and without looking like a total r-tard 😉

Also, I doubt I’ll ever be a pro racer in this sport. I just wanna have fun and look (reasonably) good while sweating my a** of in the saddle

IMO, white shades are a no go.

Sutro isn’t my favorite shape on me but it fits you nicely. I’d go with that frame but in black or some other darker color

You’ll love the Sutros. I’ve tried tons of different models and they’re elite.

Can’t go past the radar ev for me absolute perfection.  Protective and do not move a millimeter no matter how sweaty you get

  4. The full white frames wouldn’t be my first choice, but they look good with the white helmet. I have the regular Sutros, but got a pair of the Sutro Sweeps for the bike.

The Sutro’s look way better. The white frames are flashy, but you can pull it off.

Deffo the white Sutro. It suits your face. They look way better with the helmet than the other two models and you can easily pull off the look at the café stop without the helmet as well. Ride with confidence

You’re right on the sutros being too snow goggly looking. Go for the encoders. I prefer the less common choice too. Most people default to sutros as their first pair because it’s easy.

Those frames are cool as hell. Big biking sunglasses are always going to look out of proportion without a helmet on, don’t worry about it.

  9. Pick what you’re comfortable with but I find those white frames match perfectly with your white helmet.

I’d be asking myself: Which one will best keep the dust from your eyes and what lens has the most practical contrast for your weather and needs?

  11. the sutros are a great pair for riding (i also wear frogskins for a less serious look).

The white frames looks great. I love my Sutros. Perfect sunglasses for cycling, provides an excellent large field of view. And compared to some of the lower priced options available, the optical quality of Oakley’s lenses is superb.
Now get out and ride !!!!

  13. Sutros look great. Have you considered the Sutro Lite which is frameless on the bottom? I’ve had those for a few years and find them very comfortable

all have a pretty ghastly look tbh. horrible styles meant for riding i just use raybans and they work fine

Sutro’s 💯 There’s way better colors though check out special edition or TLD editions.

They look fly AF. They’re definitely flashy. Just own it because it totally works on you.

  17. I rock the Sutros with or without the helmet, riding and running. It’s an attitude. That said, I think the white frames are a good look for you. Enjoy!
