Get the shock and fork serviced.

See if you can find a dropper post that works and find a seat that’s not an “old person comfort” seat.

Double check the brakes, might as well get them serviced as well.

I built bikes for Rocky Mountain Bicycles when that model was popular. If you don’t mind, can you post a photo of the head tube/top tube/down tube cluster weld for me? Maybe I built that front triangle. I can decipher the serial as well

  3. I had one of their bikes very similar to this back in the day as not a beginner and I loved it most of the time. That rear triangle isn’t stiff enough for technical climbs but other than that it was a fine X-Country bike.

  4. I would get some sticky platform pedals and gloves. Other than that ride it and see what you got. If the seat is comfortable that would be the next thing I would change.

Don’t spend a single dollar on that bike. Servicing fork and shock will cost more than the whole bike. Maybe grips and tires.

Ride It and have fun and thats it, next time ask before buying.

I got this model but different color in 2004, do a full service and you will have fun!
