Hello everyone, been having this problem with my shifter/derailleur where the shifter can’t seem to shift into bigger cog past the smallest one. I’ve already tested and taken out as many factors as possibly (such as frayed cable, kinked housing, broken derailleur) and have come to the conclusion that I’m missing a little piece on the lever that pushes the mechanism to shift up. Found that out by comparing both shifters and that’s the only thing missing. I see that there’s a hole where it would attach to so I’m assuming that part is replaceable?? Anyone got any clue? Really appreciate it

Anyone know what this particular part of the shifter is called and if I can buy it separately?

  1. Looks pretty gunked up in there. Personally, I’d spray the shit out of it with wd40 while shifting up and down endlessly until the gunk clears up and relube it

If that doesn’t work then new brifter time

  2. There are 27 moving parts in those. All are replaceable and can be serviced. Ask a shimano mechanic If they do it- I don’t think you’ll find one because it’s a PAIN IN THE @SS and they never work perfectly after. Sorry,I’m with cybertears, flush it lube it and start shopping f that doesn’t resolve it.

  3. I just 3d modeled and printed that exact spare part for my grx shifter. I can share the file later. Not on my computer today.

  4. Cool-Newspaper-1 on

I have had the same part break on two shifters now. Fwiw, you can shift just fine when moving the little lever outward a bit before shifting with the big lever. That’s what I’m doing currently as I’m not too keen on spending another 100+ on a new shifter that has the same design flaw.

If you do manage to find the part somewhere, please do let me know, but as they aren’t listed on Shimano’s exploded views as separate parts I doubt they’re available as such.
