  1. Probably fake if it’s not from a reputable bicycle store. Too many fake chains on Amazon, eBay, etc. and they frequently fail early so aren’t considered safe to ride

  2. looked for some pics of this chain on goggle and it finds allot of em looking like this. looks awfull ngl

  3. As always, the big question is where you bought it from. If you bought it from a bike shop, bring it back and get an explanation why they’re selling crap. If you bought it off Amazon or some other online flea market, return it and buy a new one from a legit shop.

‘Bulk’ chain from a box of 20 that bike shops order for workshop use.

I got the exact same chain model last week. It came in a thin blue and gray box but once I took it out of it the packaging was like that and came with the same pin for mounting it, which annoyed me because the seller had posted that it had quick link.

That looks exactly like my NX10 chain in the shop. We have it in a bulk, looks like piece of plastic shit. I’d say it’s genuine, this model looks like this.

Shimano chains suck in my opinion. The pin never goes in square and causes chain to break after a few rides

  8. Bulk OE packaging, it’s also slathered in a protective grease. The grease will work but I suggest stripping it off and applying something better

  9. Looks like a normal NX10. Strip it down and look closely, but it seems legit based on these photos. Don’t rely on the factory lube – strip and hot wax!

A lot of chains are fake (probably the majority on things like ebay/amazon/ali express etc). But the packaging looks normal.
