[Music] [Applause] [Music] Hey, I’m Tess and I’m back back in Macedonia with my best friend Gloria. In the last episode, we explored Scopia, the capital of North Macedonia. We left off catching a bus to our next destination, which I’m really excited about, Lake Orid. This cost us about €20 each for a return, and it took about 3 hours with a stop on the way. Then we checked into Oldtown Hostel and got settled. And I’ll give you a full tour of the hostel later on in the vlog. We’ve been terrible at vlogging. Terrible. It’s been a bad It’s been a bad day. Well, it’s been a good day. Yes. But for vlogging. Yes, cuz I think we were traveling. We’ve arrived in Aid now. We were saying it wrong. Yes. Um, and we just got to Ed Hostel and like everyone’s really nice. So, we just chatting hours and we’ve come for food at Leonardo’s because one of the guys said it has a really good theme. So, let’s go and find out. Going to see, you know, you just want some love. Yes. Yes. A pairing. I just want a cat. You can come and cuddle my cat if you want. Your cat won’t allow that in you. That’s true. Quick Diet Coke update for anyone interested. There’s no Diet Coke here. They don’t seem to have Diet Coke here yet. Coke Zero is scarce, but you you can find Coke Zero, so it’s not terrible, but yeah, no Diet Coke if you’re wondering. Macedonia. I was excited for the food. Cats really make themselves at home here. Hey. Yes. If I was, I’d be a cat because I like to make myself at home. And I just think this is the definition of like glory right here. Like just make yourself home. You’re good. You’re safe. You’re fine. Yeah. Do you feel safe? You feel Yeah. Time for a hostel tour. And I can’t recommend this one enough. It has such a chilled vibe. The staff are so helpful. and we made so many friends here. As you can see, the common area is huge and has a really cool feel to it. Kitchen has everything you could need. We paid €16 each per night, which is on the higher end, but so worth it for the experience. Here is the bathroom. It’s fairly standard. This is our dorm room. This is Gloria. So, everyone has curtains, which is nice. Not everyone has a power outlet, but that’s for me. This is Gloria’s phone. Oh, actually tell the vlog about what happened. So, basically, one of my cameras on the back of my phone is broken. And then we went kaying and I know the iPhone was supposed to be waterproof, but water got into my phone. Uh, and it was working fine, but the screen just goes black and then just stops working. But you can call in, it works fine. But now it’s dead. So, we have to put it in rice and hopefully it can get fixed. So, fingers crossed. Fingers crossed. This is my bed. I was up here and I had the worst sleep ever. There’s no power outlet up there and they gave me a like um an extension wire, but it doesn’t connect in. So, we had to put it in Kim’s bed. But then the girl below me checked out this morning, so I like just quickly moved all my stuff. I just can’t get comfy on a I just can’t get comfy on a a top bun. Um, but yeah, we have like a big drawer, which is I really like this cuz then you don’t have to organize your clothes every day, but you you do need to bring a padlock. And then we actually also have a balcony, which is pretty cool. Like a little view. You can’t see the lake from here, but the lake is just just down there, like a few minutes. Oldtown hostel in Orid that we’re actually staying at. I think it’s probably one of the nicest hostels. But yeah, um, everyone’s like really really nice, really really friendly. It’s really, really social. There was like a wine tour last night. We didn’t go on that. We’re hoping to go on the sunset boat tour later, but just for today, we’re going to go and get bikes and like ride around to another beach on the lake. But first, breakfast. Yes. [Music] Some fabulous news, gang. In Macedonia, an ice coffee doesn’t just mean coffee and ice. It means coffee and ice cream. like pretty standardly. So, kind of recommend. So, we’re just at a little cafe called Magic Cafe. Um it’s just by the by the lake. Um got some chips, scrambled eggs, and I got like a cheese on toast. Yeah. Looks pretty good. And there’s like the cutest man. He’s the server here. He’s adorable. So nice. Oh my god. [Music] We finally made it to the beach. We rode our bikes. The guy who we rent the bikes from said that it was like really easy and you could like ride the bikes all around the lake on a bike pack, which isn’t really true. Um, and we got a little bit lost, went up a hill. I scraped all my knee on the bike, but we’re here. We made it to the beach. We got some drinks. Um, it’s pretty quiet cuz it’s a September Tuesday. Um, but it’s still warm even though it’s cloudy. So, it’s really nice. [Music] I thought you were behind you. That’s why you No, sorry. I was like setting up this little tripod boo pod. After the beach, we rode back to Aed. I actually hadn’t ridden a bike in years, but still had such a good day exploring. We could go a lot further around the lake, but we needed to get back. The bike rental cost us 350 each for the day, and we used Rent a Bike, which is located in the square right next to the port. We didn’t pre-book. We just showed up and the guy was really nice. So, I would [Music] recommend. That evening, we went out for a sunset dinner with some new friends from the hostel. We walked to the Cano area as this restaurant served large trout that’s actually native to Lake Orid. and some of the guys wanted to try it. Myself, I ordered the vegetarian musaka. After dinner, we all went for drinks at Taboo and then ended up back at the hostel and played some drinking games. So, we’ve woken up early to come and see the town like before we go on a boat trip cuz we’re not going to have much time tomorrow. This part of town is a lot older. Um, much cuter as well. Much cuter. So, we just wanted to get some good shots in the morning. the little tunnel there. That was really cute. And I think you when you visit Orid, make sure you spend some time wandering the old part of town. The buildings here are so unique. You can visit the Rebev House, which is from the 1800s and is a museum today. A little further on, you’ll enter the Cano area. This is home to a really peaceful beach, the stunning Arid Boardwalk, and of course, the famous church of St. [Music] John. descript. Afterwards, we went on a boat trip with Molly and Caroline, who we made friends with at the hostel. Trust me, a boat trip is a musto in Orange. There is so much to see around this gorgeous lake. The boats leave from the port around 10:30 every day, so get there for 10:00 a.m. and bring cash. We found it to be a set price of €25 each, which was well worth it. [Music] So, we’re at the Bay of Bones. Yes. Oh, we’re on a boat trip, but we came off the boat trip. Well, no, we’re on we’re on the boat trip, and the first stop is the Bay of Bones. We’re not sure what it is yet, so we should probably find out. I I want to see some bones, but the first stop that we had, there was just loads of like clay and like things, but I think there’s a bone over there. So, the Bay of Bones is a reconstruction of the prehistoric settlements on the lake. It’s definitely worth a visit, but just to note, you’ll need to pay 150 as it’s not included with the boat trip. [Music] There’s also vibe with the match. This is so funny today. What did you order? A kebab. A kebabs. A kebab. The restaurant we had lunch at was beautiful. The setting was amazing. Right on the water on these comfy couches, but the food was a little bit strange. Hey, Peacock. Beautiful. Yeah, like it’s crazy. Sad, but I always Is that how the heads always do? Yeah. Yeah. They only um open their feathers if they’re trying to meet with another. We are currently at the monastery. Um, I’m a bit underdressed to be honest. Um, but it’s absolutely beautiful here. It’s amazing. [Music] Hi. Welcome to our last day in Macedonia. Sorry, there’s some really loud men here. Welcome to our last day in Macedonia or last day in Orid as well. We’re leaving today. We’ve just checked out of our hostel. We just came for breakfast. Something about Macedonia or at least Orid, they don’t really do breakfast. Even if they have a breakfast menu, they don’t serve that breakfast till like 1 or two. So, just make note of that. But, we did find a cafe. It’s called Cafe Lemon and they have quants. Um, I already ate half, but they’re they’re actually really good. Oh, last night we went for dinner with our friends from the hostel and Glory went to bed early and then we went to a bar and played some games. So, it was really, really fun. But now we have to leave. We’re about to get a bus back to Scapia and then home back to Luton. The vlog will know who it was. It was time to leave Orid and head back home. We took a classic company bus back to Scopia. We had a few hours in Scopia to kill, so we looked around for some souvenirs and had some lunch and then we headed back home. I’ve honestly had the best week exploring Macedonia and I highly recommend it as a fun, cheap, and beautiful place to visit. Hey guys, so I’m home now. I just wanted to say thank you so much for watching my first travel vlog backing series. I’m literally had the best time editing it, watching it all back, just making it into a proper vlog. I really hope that I’ve done the country justice. Obviously, I didn’t get to see the whole of Maconia. Please subscribe. I’m actually going to Thailand in a week from today. I’m going to make so so so many travel vlogs from that trip. So subscribe so that you know when they come out. I’ll also post about it on my Instagram which is @travel.tessie. See you over there.
