Hello everyone! I’m a cyclist with zero experience in vintage bikes and with some very basic bike mechanic skill. I’d like a 90s Colnago and found this beautiful Tecnos. It has a few small paint chips and a 9-speed Campy Veloce groupset, which includes Veloce cranks not shown in the photo. The seller wants $1,995, which seems steep to me. A few questions if you don’t mind?

Is $1,995 high for this complete bike?

Would this frame accommodate a higher end 10-speed or 11-speed Campy groupset? I’m thinking of updating it the complete group.

Do you think it’s possible to repair the paint chips?

This is a beautiful machine, I believe you will not have any problem updating the group set. Check the inner rear chain stays near the bottom bracket , I’m an old bike mechanic and have seen rust problems in this area.
Personally feel, at $2k plus the group set, it’s a lot.
I don’t know sh*t, but she sure is pretty.
Beautiful bike but I wouldn’t pay that much, I’ve built a few restomods and never had a problem putting modern drivetrain on older bikes

I had one. It was an amazing bike. An amazing ride. There was a weight limit on it, so be mindful of that. Paint may be hard to fix. It’s a very unique color as you see, and it varies a lot and subtly. Price is steep, but if it’s in good shape, it’s worth it.

Seller wants way too much aside from the fact it’s clean and looked after campagnolo veloce is a lower end group set with not a load of value. For the price stated It should come with a record or super record set up in great condition. The frames very nice and paint job but 2K is a massive stretch for this. I’d personally give this a miss and find something more fairly valued for the spec. You can get 10 speed campagnolo record / super record setups on nice Italian frames for under £800 here in the UK. Have a look at search for Somec frames with. Record set ups and see what you find. Defo miss this one.

Nail polish usually does a good job of repairing little nicks. You won’t notice it from a meter away. Anyway it’s a bike not a Ming vase 🙂
