Nice hack, but if you have the time you could probably figure out a cheaper, lighter way of doing it. I have enormous hands, so I kinda want that area free for them and when I get tired, my sensitivity issues flare up and anything annoying then becomes unbearable.

I’m curious as to the bounce when you ride. I’ve done something similar though but I have bag strapped to my aerobars and had my phone mounted to that.

I’ve done something similar with the aero bridge bar that came with my aero bars. OP’s setup is much cleaner than mine! I just zip tied it to my bars and it held a GoPro or my Garmin 1040 just fine. On gravel rides there’s of course some bounce, but everything is bouncing on gravel 🤣

  4. I would not, because I tried something similar and the computer gets blurry after more than 5km/h.

People do Jerry-rig small plastic pipes, including a friend who did this on his current endurance bike. I chose the way of the sunk cost fallacy, and bought the PRO aero bridge, which does exactly the same, but more expensive, and with screws that are prone to strip.

seems like that could work, if, the rigidity side to side can keep enough tension or if you introduced a rigid piece to keep the bars separated (or if the bag shown has something to do that) seems like otherwise while riding the tension could drop and off goes the mount.

What bars are those? thoughts about them ? It looks good that the skis and pad mount adjust separately

  6. I would consider some zip ties so that there is no chance of the strap rattling forward off the bars.

Id suggest always having the backup safety tether. Weighs nothing. Saved me once from losing the bike computer

It’s going to be unreadable from vibrations on anything but smooth asphalt.

  9. My way of doing this:
Plastic tube of effervescent vitamin C, with ends cut to shape, a bit of tape and call it a day. It’s sturdy, very light and won’t go anywhere.

  10. I would use a tether string to secure it to someplace just in case, last thing you want is to have it bounce off & not notice it immediately. I use a tether string on my computer for the ‘what ifs’

Could be fine and a great hack, but would they move w jarring rugged roads on fast descents, say? Will they get in the way of your hands when using aero bars for gripping?
I zip tied my wahoo mount to one of my aero bars after wrapping them w bar tape. Stays put. Out of the way. Not obtrusive

A 3D printed bracket that mounted in the end caps of the aero bars would be pretty slick and would free up those last couple inches of hand room. Definitely not a simple fix like the voile strap, if it works and doesn’t encroach on your grip space then run it!

76 Projects 3d print a fantastic mount for this, had one for a few years and it’s faultless.
