I was riding in the desert this weekend when I suddenly couldn’t shift, and looked back to find the battery was missing. I found it a while back on the trail, but the latch kept coming undone when I tried to reinstall the battery. Has anyone experienced this issue before that has an easy fix, or should I take it to my LBS or contact SRAM directly? I’ve had this derailleur for about a year with no other issues.

  1. I don’t know how to fix it but it’s pretty amusingly how you put your hand under to catch it because you knew for sure that it would fall off again. Hot glue maybe?

Might try some computer duster or something of the sort to clean the latch.

  3. I would go to a bike shop, and ask to try a different battery. It could just be the battery part that is slipping. And a battery is cheaper to replace.

  4. SRAM has not been very forthcoming on offering parts or solutions to fix these very expensive derailleurs. Which is a bummer. I can’t see what exactly is happening here but hopefully you’re under warranty. The one I see a lot is a stuck pin in the derailleur battery contact bricks the whole thing. No fix, just replace. $400 gone for a tiny stuck battery contact pin. love how they shift but they really need to step it up in ability to fix this stuff.

  5. This is such dumb tech.. broblems that shouldn’t exist: “I cant change gears cause my darailleur battery keeps falling off”
