Hi all,

Looking for some thoughts here. I have a Nukeproof Mega 275 – Bought in 2021 with a 5 year frame warranty. Unfortuantely 2 things have happened since then:

No 1, my frame has cracked (photos attached) – I only noticed last week but look like its been developing over time.

The bike is still technically ridable (i.e. hasn't split in 2), but feel like there is no chance I should ride it as it could have a catastrophic failure at any moment.

No 2 – Nukeproof have changed hands a few times since then. Most recently they were bought by Belgium Cycling Factory.

I contacted them about it and they just said "sorry we can't help" – Pretty much.

I've sent another email asking what liabilities they took on when they bought nukerpoof, i.e what commitments to previous customers.

Wondering, anyone had similar experneice/what do you think the chances are of either a new frame, or some money back. I'm pretty gutted as had just spent quite a lot of money upgrading my forks, shock and brakes.

You can see in the pictures, the crack is joining over the top of the bottom bracket.

Thanks for any advice!

Some of those dents and scuffs look rather severe… Time to find another frame, might score an okay deal on a used one, might even find the same model.

IF there was a place worse than the headtube to crack, this has to be it. You are correct to assume the bike is just primed for a catastrophic failure at any time possible…. and from where the crack is, the failure point will make any impact-into-crash more gnarly.

Where in the world are you? Proof of purchase, warranty and general things like that should see you get that frame replaced with a current one of equal value in most areas where there is protection offered to the consumer.

As much as you think you upgrades or modifications are superior to the original spec (and they probably are) generally that is enough to void warranty. Read the fine print and see.

It sucks that companies can’t support their consumer base. I guess, this is a reminder to only support those that offer lifetime frame warranties with good reputations. Companies can be difficult though – you have nothing claim if you aren’t the original owner and have no proof of purchase.

Sadly it’s not the same company. I’m sorry to say but I don’t think you’ve got much of a case to get any kind of replacement or compensation from the ‘new’ company who has purchased the IP.

That sucks. Hate to see nukeproof frames fail while theres no replacements yet.

Out of curiousity how does your upper shock mount do? It seems to be other place that these fail on as material around welds gets tired

  5. It seemed to be fine but I’ll have another check later.

I only noticed this (thought it was just scratched) the other week when I guy riding past me said “ah I had a nukeproof mega but the frame just snapped” then pointed to mine and said, exactly like that. So looks like it’s not limited to me
