Hi everyone, recently got back on the saddle and getting into some mechanical work on bikes. I pulled this out the shed, gave it a test ride which showed some issues.

No switching of the front derailleur on the crankset, it does shift as can be seen in the video but not between cranks. I’ve adjusted the limit screws to no avail. Is the crankset not compatible with the derailleur?

Also, adjusting the height of the front derailleur is problematic as the holder only goes down so far (does this make sense?), is the derailleur not compatible with the bike?

As for the back derailleur, looks to be bent, and while on the largest cassette the jockey wheels seem to ride on each other, very closely at the least.

Can anything be done to resurrect the bike into full working order without breaking the bank?

What are my options?

I think the chain is way to big as the rear dérailleur should not be behind the cassette but in front. Also you can adjust cable tension/position for the front dérailleur.

  2. Clearly too many chain links. I can not see the crank spacing but that might be the issue there. Cables need replacing.
