Is it flexing? If not I’d ride it, if yes I’d try to get it un-dented like they do it with cars.

well that explains why you got it for free

The Cannondale aluminum is super hard and strong. A bike takes so many forces they really have to overdue it for liability sake and Cannondale was having to prove that it can be done and really overdid it. IMO
Id watch it , observe it
Are you riding dirt or tarmac
If you were doing crazy mountain bike jumps then I’d be more worried

It’s fine. Keep an eye on it watching for cracks.

Dont worry about it on that place, just check it once in a while for cracks, but i dont think it will happen anytime soon.

ride it, check for cracks, and by god get the front derailleur cable sorted…

There is a reason it was free….
The reason is whoever gave you it saved themselves the fuss of scrapping it themselves. Frame is toast and it will fail nobody can say when or how dramatically, might be gently giving plenty of warning or it may be spectacularly throwing you off, but it will fail.

If you have an alloy cannondale without a dent then you’ve got a problem đŸ˜‚

I would but I love riding and what the heck!
Do you have another option?
If so ride the other bike if not hell yeah!!!

If it was me, i would bin the frame and move the components on another frame, provided they are in good conditions. I wouldn’t enjoy riding on a dented frame, worrying that it could fail and putting me in a dangerous spot.

The down tube primarily experiences tensile forces., that is why the Slingshot bike is even possible. So yeah, go for it.
