Im trying not to lose my mind at the moment..I've been so excited waiting for my brompton C line to arrive. And what do you know! It comes early this sunday rather than the Tuesday it said it would.
But to my dismay. The box is completely damaged all over. There's tape covering tears in the bikes. And the bike itself looks used. I dont even know if it was packaged properly. What do you guys think? Should I just return it? And if I do should I even bother getting another one.
Idk if this added information helps but I ordered the last C line in the "Papryus white" color with Mid handle bars. Makes me think they just sent me the first one someone returned without even checking it.

Just realized one of the wheels has practically no air in it either…
What did Brompton say when you asked them?
Mine was packaged the same. Tho your box is more damaged during the shipping but honestly it looks fine to me. I don’t see any damage, the saddle is removed as it should be. You have to get a 5mm allen key to install it.
That tape over the tire is how they do that lettering on the factory. It falls very easily so the bike definitely new.
The drivetrain looks clean at least so it’s probably not been ridden.
The damage to the packaging could also be from the shop taking the bike out to setup, if that’s still a thing?
When I got mine a few years ago, I was told it was mandatory for the shop to setup the bike first.
C lines don’t come in white?
my c line i got recently came with the box like this, it did its job absorbing impact. you’ll show more wear after like 2 rides tbh
If it’s ‘used’ it’s very hard to tell, and your very first ride would probably do more wear and tear on the bike than what is visible now. A tire being deflated is literally nothing. You can point to no actual damage, and I can’t see any. Wrinkles in the mud flap? Normal. Sign of nothing.
You’re panicking right now but breathe for a minute and put it back in perspective. This thing is made to be ridden outside. You’ll damage and dirty it more than it currently is in about 5 minutes of normal use.
Looks fine to me too. The rim looks clean. If the bike was used, you would see brake pad marks. Also, guarantee the box gets thrown around while in transit. Good packaging will take the damage and protect the bike.
It looks fine. The little tape is still on the side of the tyres. It’s probably been chucked around by a courier who hates lugging heavy boxes around and is constantly being hassled to go quicker by their boss.
Pump the tyres up, ride it, enjoy it, throw the box away.
Despite the cardboard being beaten and left for dead, your tire and chain look pristine. I don’t believe that bike has been unfolded, much less ridden.
If it helps, my C-line 12-speed box was covered top to bottom in what looked like mud. It looked like the delivery guy had dragged it behind the truck instead of placing it in inside. But the bike was perfectly fine and *almost* everything was accounted for (a manufacturer’s sealed bag was missing a small part which Brompton quickly sent me).
I think this is fine but if you are unsure reach out to Brompton support.
