Hey guys,
With a few weeks up until my first Ironman, I thought I‘d change my old tubes and tires.
Funnily, after about 30km, BOTH of my tubes failed at the same time. Probably a mountaing error. My new tyres (continental gp5000) were harder to mount and I used 25mm tubes from continental.
Now, to be on the safe side, I wanna go pack to my continental gp4000s II with Schwalbe 28mm tubes (they never pinched, even after practice swapping the tube for the same tube).
My question now: do you think my older tyres are still in good condition? I have run them for 700-1000kms maximum.
Thank you!

seems fine.
If there gone squared off in the centre then it’s time to change
You’ve paid how much for the entry fee and you won’t spring for new tyres?
You can even put these back on after the race and put the new tyres on when they finally do wear out.
It’s also suitable for a trip around the world. Everything is OK
How’s the wear dimples look? Contis have two little dots to tell if the rubber is thinned out too much. If you can’t find them, it’s too worn.
If you’re doing an Ironman consider taking the opportunity to upgrade to GP5000s though?
Plenty of life it seems.
I would buy new ones. If you really want to run these into the ground, put them back on when you’re done with the race.
