I have this pair of Mavic Crosstrail tubeless wheels. After 12 years I am changing the tires and cleaned the rims from tubeless sealant for the first time.
So i want to ask you if I need to put tubeless tape to these wheels? Or can I directly add the liquid? Thank you.

After 12 years you have no guarantees that the tape will hold up properly regardless, so probably best to switch it.

The reason for the use of externally threaded nipples is that the rim does not need to be taped. The only reason one would tape these is if they are trying to make a tricky pair of tires seat, and are trying to reduce bead space.
I thought they are hookless so you don’t need any tape at all.
