Marin sent me a San Quentin 1 with deep scratches on the frame and my local bike shop said the box it was shipped in was absolutely destroyed and there was barely any packing material. Marin does not ship directly to consumer so that is why my local bike shop got it before me. I’m not worried about scratches but could the rigidity of the frame be compromised? I’m sure Marin is gonna help me out tomorrow when customer service is in. Just seeing what you guys would do in this situation or if any of you have experienced something like this.

  1. Acceptable for what? If you care, get it repainted, or slap a sticker there, if you don’t, then who cares. It’s just a scratch.

  2. Its a new bike. Id request a new frame or no less than 15% discount. Otherwise you’re telling both the shop and marin that receiving brand new damaged goods is ok. Tbh that shop should be embarrassed for sending that out the door.

Not in 30+ yrs buying bikes, definitely not normal…My giant trance had a similar paint chip under the frame, they instantly replaced the whole bike, hope you have a similar experience.

It’s an off road machine, not a show car.

It’s gonna get that if you ride it proper at all.

Ask for a discount or some store credit towards some gear.

  5. I work in a bike shop and find it terrible they even accepted it from the courier/Marin and absolutely baffling they gave it to you like this.

Bike shops need to do better
