I primarily ride sand over hard pack dirt. Typical Arizona desert riding. I noticed after a couple rides my tire tread is getting full of these little bits of sand. Should I go with a different tread? Or is this nothing to worry about. Am I overthinking traction issues? Tire is maxxis minion dhr II

You’re overthinking it. I’d be more concerned with what tire pressure to run than some sand in my tread blocks. If you find the tire provides good grip, stick with it.
That imbedded sand will be great in icy conditions.
I’m in Arizona as well, this tire is absolutely fine. Nothing to worry about with rocks getting in the pieces of tread, as the tire flexes during the ride they will come and go. In most cases these cuts are just made so that the tread has the ability to move around easier. If you are having traction issues drop your pressure or check the compound of your tire. You can ride pretty aggressively and get away with about 25 psi in the front. I’d also recommend a softer compound in the front to help with cornering.
I ride in AZ also. No concern. This is the only reason I dislike new tires for the first few rides. The sand seems to stick to the new tires and throws it up into my face. After a few rides it’s dusty enough that the smaller sand no longer sticks to the tires. I run the same tires and have no issues with traction.
My OCD won’t allow that. I’d be out there picking them out with a toothpick lol.
interesting wear pattern, like almost no wear on the side blocks, but pretty worn on the center blocks. I guess you don’t do much leaning in turns/aggressive cornering?
