I'm building a generic Chinese carbon XC bike. As you can see, the shifter cable is routed out of the frame on the same side (right) as the shifter lever.

On the left side of the frame, there are two slots, one for the hydraulic rear brake and one that seems clearly intended to go through the top tube to the rear shock lockout, which this bike has.

On the right side of the frame, there are two slots. One seems designed for the dropper cable. That leaves the other for the shifter cable.

As we know, everyone hates the cables coming out of the frame on the same side as the levers.

Am I missing something? Or do I just have to live with it?

(Bike is just barely in the repair stand clamps as was routing the dropper cable when I took those photos. No need to roast me for that :))

  1. I don’t think you’re missing anything, some bikes just be like that. Santa Cruz frames run the cables that way. Seems to be a non-issue performance wise.
