Is it normal for them to have worn out like this after just one use? It was just a short trip with normal use. I keep reading that they’re supposed to be indestructible, but I’m really disappointed.

Black is perhaps a little more sensitive to scratches than all other colors. But that is not a sign of poor quality. The material is the most robust I have ever experienced and they will last a lifetime even in the wildest conditions.
This is normal. Mine are full of holes after 25,000 km and more than a few crashes.
I had a dog bite one of mine and wound up with 2 1 inch rips and it holds up fine with duct tape
