I get it. But my body isn’t symmetrical anyway so I just eyeball it.

Not OCD my house is over 100 years old and unsurprisingly my floors are crooked. It’s a PITA trying to level my bike on the trainer.

The cycling industry is full of bullshit – and this is an example.

I used a laser level after a recent bike fit to transfer to other bikes! From the side though with level going through center of bottoms bracket.

Giving off that over-thinking engineer bike shop customer vibe.

My eyeballs are much more sensitive to uneven bars or a twisted stem than my hands are.
I support this 100%.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Lining up the handle bars with the tire? There’s a clip on tool for this that I bought on Ali some time ago. You can flip it and easily line up the saddle as well. Â
I’m wondering if you could use your technique for something else. There has to be potential. Maybe to symmetrically line up the shifters and find the middle of the bars (if it’s not already marked)?Â

But… it’s nearly impossible to get anything crooked on that axis.
There’s no adjustment for adding “roll” to your handlebars!
