This is the coolest elevator in Hamburg. I’m not much of an elevator fulmer, but I do love the old Elb tunnel in Hamburg. In particular, the elevators on this section. That’s right. This tunnel will take you from Lynn’s broken in the St. Pie district all the way under the Ela River to Steinv. While these elevators are made to accommodate cars, due to renovation works, only one side of the tunnel is open and strictly to pedestrians and cyclists at that. I hope this becomes a permanent change because I saw a ton of people going through here. Helps too that the tunnel is very well ventilated and very nice and comfortably cool down at tunnel level. Oh, and the elevators are big, slightly open air, and have this cool wooden aesthetic. They even have actual operators. How old school?
