Big bunch sprint to begin the tour of Hungary today. We’ve got some good sprinters here. Dylan Ronovan, Bow House, Malochelli who just won in tour of Turkey as well as Welssford and the Danny Van Ppple pairing. We begin in the beautiful Budapest finishing in Gor almost a pancake flat sprint stage. Remind me of the actual Grande Parenza uh in Budapest a couple of years ago. But we’ve got Kahar here as well. Fishman’s Bastion. I think the TT went up to there. But indeed a big opportunity for the local teams to get in the breakaway uh today. They can take points at the intermediate sprint and fight for that jersey. So there was big fight for the breakaway initially. JCO and Bahrain were controlling things to make sure the right breakaway went and it did in the end. Although they kept him at a very very short leash 177k is a long stage to start with. Yanos Pelican took the first intermediate sprint. Actually good crowds here uh for the first intermediate sprint and at the finish. when we had Jacula controlling, but a very tight gap. They kept it at like 1:30 for a lot of the day. Ben Wiggins, who was riding up on the uh men’s or the Jacula world tour team, he’s on the DVO team, but because it’s not a world tour race, he can race with the world tour squad in this race. Looked like Ollie Veer crash. Wellsford and Van Pppel cooking up a plan for the sprint, I guess. But but when you keep a gap that tight, but these short hills, it was a steep hill, 10% average for like 800 m. could have been a bridging opportunity for some riders that didn’t want to sprint to go across to the breakaway, but that didn’t happen. Uh it was the stage was still locked down by Jacob, by Trek for Timontoenberg, by Aana for Malachelli and uh yeah, Red Bull didn’t actually I don’t think they pulled as much as other team, but the break still went pretty deep into the race. So, it could be risky if they keep the gap that close tomorrow where there’s some more hills. 15ks to go. It was still at 40 seconds, but always under control. Been a really, really long stage for the breakaway out there. And we were going to have a big bunch sprint. And to familiarize you with the leadup men, we’ve got the Oliva brothers and Kovi for Milano, the UA Emirates sprinter. We’ve got Mezett for Dylan Kronov, Danny Van Pppel, and was supposed to be Vanal for Wellsford, but he crashes and can’t really participate in this sprint. And then Gleb Seritza who you’ll all recognize for Malachelli on XDS AA. So breakaway court 5ks to go. We’re going to have that big sprint. Yeah. One Sebastian Milano. He’s one of those sprinters. UAE keep him. He’s their only pure sprinter on the team. They don’t really have many sprinters. Although they win plenty anyway, but he’s they keep him around for UAE tour for Shoulder Praise for Depa. He normally doesn’t get the best lead out and he still wins. He won in Deanna. It’s a world tour one day race and he still picked up that win with a really smart move in the chaotic finish cuz he’s good in the chaos. Is he the best sprinter in the world? No. Does he still win like four races a year without much help a lot of the time? Yes. But in fact, we see the Red Bull Bora Hansrower train. They’re waiting at the back of the UAE train. They’re sitting on them with 2.3ks to go. Bahrain next to UAE and UAE actually have the best train. The Milano getting a good lead out. He’s got the Oliva brothers and Kovi. Big left-hander there. High speed. You see Ruy Olivivera is about to get in the the radio with Milano on his wheel to tell them to speed up or change because they’re going to get swamped a little bit. It’s all about this right hand corner with 350 m to go. You have to be in good position for that righthand corner. If you’re not in the top five wheels, you can’t win this sprint. And yeah, we see impressive from UAE doing the lead out. Jaco nearly get there. There’s Volshide Mez gets and then but they actually can’t get across the UAE train. Maybe they got chopped out of it. But yeah, Oliver a really really good job at Van Pppppel. He sprints across to the wheel of Oliver. Wellsford leaves his wheel or someone chopped him out of it. Bow house is not in position. Gronovan didn’t react quick enough to get to Olive’s wheel and so Van Pppel slingshots around him needing to be first through this corner. Gleb Seritz is in between him and Dylan Cronov and through this corner Oliver has just done half a lead out. Seritz is not that explosive. Malachelli’s three wheels behind him. Chronovan’s got no lead out to to sew up any gaps that may occur and a gap does. Oliver Va pul look behind pulled out dropped the wheel of Van Pppel and that’s it. That’s all she wrote. Milano wasn’t in a competitive position to sprint anyway. But for the others, it means Danny Van Pppppel able to take the prize win from the lead out by going into that first corner. 300 m to go. And PPE says afterwards, I wasn’t the plan. He was surprised, but yeah, he knows what he’s doing. He knows what he’s doing. He took that corner on rails. Wellsford wasn’t on his wheel and it was a smart thing to do. Oliver is looking around, drops the wheel a little bit. B Ple kicks really really hard like a sprinter out of that corner and yeah he timed it better than anybody and this was the the way Red Bull Bands grow able to win the race. Twinberg a very strong sprinter I would say coming up to Van Pppel Gron is not able to come around him in time. So watch out for the young German who just came up to the world tour team this year. But yeah, big win for Van Ppple who hadn’t won for a couple of years ahead of Tidenberg, then Genev, and Branga, Malachev, Stish, Bhouse, Welsford, Kagi, and Keki. Here’s what Danny Van Ppple had to say. Um, your first victory since the 2023 tour of Britain. Um, were you were you quite surprised to to to finish this off? Yeah, to be honest, yeah, was not the plan, but um yeah, we would go for the sprint with Sam and I knew I had to take the corners first and I just uh uh um uh I went first in. So, uh and then tailwind was super important and then I I had no idea at 50 m before the finish. I look around and then I was gone. I’m super happy. I’m super happy. Tomorrow we’ve got probably another sprint stage. It’s a little bit hillier. There’s a hill close to the finish. If they keep the gap to the brake too tight, maybe someone will try and jump across. Hope you enjoy the recap and I’ll see you with the recap tomorrow.

I love your vids!❤
Just a question: why don't you cover the giro d'italia?
To improve footage like this look for a deinterlace effect/filter in your editing app.
Thankfully no world champion is present. Don't think Hungary would have appreciated a person in a rainbow jersey riding around.
thats some race iq!
@pofijanika gang
How is groenewegen still cycling the UCI is a joke
Why don’t you make video for giro , like idk but people are more interested into giro right now
❤❤❤
To be a great leadout rider you have to be a good sprinter, and DVP is a world-class last man.
hey PJ squad!
When lead out man is better than his
Sprinter CAPEAU annoying LR don't
Have rights to the Giro.🙄😢❤️🔝
Why you dont cover the Giro?
Keep up the great work, i love your content
Wout is looking really weak. Visma not strong anymore. Primoz seems alright good TT. Hope he doesnt crash. Maybe next year pogi will go for all 3 Grand Tours?
Oh boy. I think Danny knows that even if Sam is right at his wheel he can't chop across the whole road aswell without piling up the peloton. He clearly wasn't in lead-out mode but in "me fast, why me not win"-mode. In the end he deserve it, good instinct, good execution but damn he should be lucky that he isn't supposed to lead out Jakobsen 😁
Van Poppel is an excellent sprinter. Good to see him get a reward for a change.
Van Poppel is better then his sprinter!!!
To think Giro don’t want to give the rights to Lanterne Rouge when the quality of their recap is so bad… such a shame.

apparently this channel is RACIST, SHAME ON YOUR VIEWERS
When is the yearly horse racing stage? 😀
Where is the recap of 4 jours de Dunkerque stage 1?? 😛 looking forward to hear your take on the Zingle performance at the weekly lrcp pod!
The Giro highlights are unwatchable when you're used to Lanterne Rouge standards. I guess I'll follow the Tour de Hongrie for now.
Fun to see places I ride regularly here on LR channel!
@2:08 you can see the white poplar tree's 'plumes' flying, typical to the season and a nasty surprise to those allergic of if you inhale it…
Lanterne rouge should recap the Giro… their recaps are so bad as compared to lanterne
Van Poppel the most successful accidental winner in cycling
LR for the win.
Sad you don’t have the rights to cover Giro, would have loved to see when you cover Adam Jates go on the attack in these coming up stages
