This is for whoever needs to see it, pertaining to "Skeace" branded cranksets or similar.
I did a glow-up of my bike about a year ago. I wanted to replace the silver square taper 130mm BCD dogshit crank that came with my bike. Naturally, the price tag of genuine "mid" range 144 BCD cranks drove me to AliExpress where I got this crankset for about 70€.
As you can see, there have been 3 (THREE) cracks developing at the same time. I'm no metallurgist but I would guess this is a result of some major cost saving in the material sourcing and/or forging process, not just an unfortunate fluke that passed by QC.
I weigh 100 kg with my backpack and this is after some 5k km of very aggressive city riding, full on curb hopping, skidding and sprinting at green lights, but my stock unbranded cranks managed that just fine for three years.
Thankfully I caught this before it caught me and made me eat shit, or worse. I bit the bullet and ordered some nice Miche cranks. Buy once cry once.

my friends skeace cranks had spiderbolt issues with alot of noise after around 4-5 months of riding, believe it isnt the best brand but well for its price i guess its fine
Second hand square taper is goated for more budget oriented builds
jokes on you, your miche cranks will fail you as well
The price on them is very tempting, but I’ve always had my doubts, and this just seals the deal on me never buying them.
I’ll stick to the converted Shimano Sora crank I’ve been using for 12 years.
you got your money’s worth of riding out of $70 lol
5k of aggressive city riding and curb hopping.. can omniums survive that?
feels like gotta check cranks very often doesn’t matter what brand these days
The irony of buying Miche cranks to replace your cracked ones makes me chuckle 🙂
Buy an omnium
Just my personal anecdote. I have been using my miche pistard cranks for 5 years. So far no cracks. I dont do tricks or anything particularly rough tho ,
Sugino 75 square taper, campy BB. Fit and forget. Have countless miles and 3 years on them.
I’ve heard that it’s much more common on Hollowtech cranks of this brand, I’m planning to purchase the square taper ones instead to see how it goes.
if you’re not rocking 144 bcd, a prowheel or andel (mine is a blb track rebrand) will be just fine. in my country it’s kinda hard to get 144 bcd chainrings, so i stick to 130,get some steel ones, they’re las you a lifetime. (i dont know how,my father’s been using the same chainring, chain and cog for the last 5 years, thats what post soviet quality gets you)
It will always be more expensive to buy cheap stuff then to buy the real more expensive.
Strong seed problems.
I know a dude thats snapped 4 sets of omniums. Alot of people report snapped miche cranks. Lots of documented cases of 5dev cranks snapped too. All stuff breaks. Alwayd good to check your stuff every now and then.
i would expect nothing less from a $80 crank..
just get S300’s or oniomnnnsns and be done
I’d never use Ali on critical parts like that. Saddle, seatpost , bells and lights are all fine. But nothing that can send you OTB.
