This is a weird one. $350-$400 this is an easy yes. $500 is a bit steep, but the shifters and rear derailleur are worth probably half of that on their own. Modernish road bikes with anything approaching race geometry and rim brakes are really tough to price.
If it’s the right size for you, and you want somewhat aggressive geometry, then go for it. It’s way nicer than what $500 will get you at your LBS.
