day 66 of biking from Norway to South Africa! day 2 in England :)#bikepacking #biketour #cyclist #biketravel #adventuretravel
Welcome back to day 66 of biking from Norway to South Africa and day two in England. We were staying right next to the White Cliffs and so we took a little hike this morning before starting our ride for the day. Um our hostel backed right up into the cliff so we had the most beautiful views all morning. Coming right out of the gate this morning, we hit a pretty steep hill, 15% grade according to the sign. I think it was only 13 and I totally forgot how hard hills were. We were riding on the sidewalk and it was super overgrown with a lot of stinging nettles and I got got a few times so that was pretty unpleasant. Um, then we turned off onto this really busy road and I was like, there’s no way they want us to ride down this. And luckily, it was only for a few feet before they had us turn off onto way calmer roads. Getting used to biking on the wrong side of the road actually proved to be pretty difficult for me. I just like kept having to like really think hard when I was turning about where I was trying to go. And a lot of the roads were super narrow, but luckily a lot of the cars were like super considerate of cyclists and had a lot of patience. So, I really appreciated that. We stopped to pump some air in our back tires before continuing on. And yeah, the hills were just really getting to me today. I think I got too used to biking on flat ground and forgot what it was like to like really work for it. So, I can’t say I was having the best time yesterday, but I think tomorrow will be better and it’ll just take a little getting used to. We stopped and had some very nutritious snacks before continuing on for the last little bit. We are like 50 mi away from London now, and so tomorrow we’ll be making our way there. I’m super excited to spend some time in the city and rest up before continuing our leg in the UK. And that’s all from me. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you
