If I were my 14 year-old self, I’d spend all afternoon riding through that over and over again. 🙂

    Hey man, make better decisions.

Low water crossings are deadly. Ankle deep water moving quickly is enough to carry a human away

  3. It takes 6 inches of moving water to sweep away an average adult, and only a foot to sweep away a car.

If it’s dumb for a driver to drive their car through it, it’s definitely dumb to ride you bike through it. You should probably find a safer route.

  4. lmao in the first half I was like wow poor drainage, smh. then i got to the 2nd half. wtf

  5. Definitely take the road. Stillwater is risky enough, although if you know the place you might be fine. But running water? Hell no.

  6. I’m glad you made it through, but it can be hard to read the depth and force of moving water. This crossing would have been a “hell no” from me, whether on a bike, on foot, or in a car.

This is something I would come across the day after deciding to remove my full fenders

So how deep did it get? I’m guessing at least axel depth. I’m with you, I would have rode through that too. (then spent two days waiting for my shoes to dry…)

  9. rad af. I presume OP knows the general route and depth given it’s their commute. Was it safe? meh. Not rly the point, user experience may vary.

I was looking at the puddles and just thinking “I have fenders, i just kick my feet up and go ‘weeee’.”

    Then you turned the corner

Uh OK No, Dude. I’ll pass, lol. Will ride the sidewalk way before that.

  12. Nice creek crossing! I kinda agree with the comments, I’d probably have found another way if possible because that water was moving a bit quick but it’s impossible for us to armchair this decision. You were the one there. Ride on!

  13. lots can go wrong in that scenario

like , submerged rock, bent wheel, rider goes in water, bearings and cables fill with water, rust

That’s like one of the mid-depth rivers in Oregon Trail that do a die roll to see if you sink. Puddles are one thing, but if it’s a literal creek, I’d say find another way around.

Every XC mountain biker should be dead according to this comment section.
